Let’s talk about vibration. Why?Because I’m seeing more and more babies being recommended oral vibration without appropriate assessment, guidance, or follow-up.Vibration is not a toy. It is a therapeutic sensory tool—and like any intervention, it should have a clear clinical purpose. One question I routinely ask families is whether they were screened for a history of seizures or seizure-risk before vibration was recommended. More often than not, parents tell me they were not asked this. Therapeutic vibration has the potential to influence oral sensory and motor responses. That’s why it’s important to observe how each baby responds before, during, and after treatment—not only in the moment, but also through follow-up and reassessment of feeding, breathing, oral function, regulation, and sensory processing. Not every baby needs vibration. Not every baby benefits from vibration. And not every provider should be recommending vibration without the training to assess its effects. When in doubt, refer out to a qualified feeding or pediatric therapy professional who can determine whether it is appropriate for your baby. #themoreyouknow #occupationaltherapy #parenthood #parenting #teamwork by @centerforinfantties

āž”ļø A lot of parents and providers will often go online to look up videos to do and that’s ok BUT….āž”ļø Not every technique will apply to your baby and your baby’s response is not going to be the same as another baby. You might miss the clinical nuances that are being assessed. āœ… Here are some things you might not see simply from watching a ten second clip:• Oral reflexes were assessed prior to this exercise. • Head and neck mobility were engaged to warm up his tongue (bet you didn’t know that, did you?)• Teethers were provided to allow for baby-guided oral motor sensory play. • Orofacial massages were implemented on the outside of the mouth to prepare for minimal stimulation in his mouth. • Observing for asymmetrical movements of the jaw and tongue. • Not putting any pressure on his lower jaw (mandible). • Gently providing tactile cues to the tip of his tongue. • Observing for progress with tongue extension. • Co-regulating with his responses. • Facilitated this exercise in different positions. And so much more! This is why a proper evaluation with the right provider is so crucial. The wrong approach can delay your baby’s progress. www.oralties.com #occupationaltherapy #themoreyouknow #parenthood #teamwork #education by @centerforinfantties

So many parents are told ā€œthat is normal.ā€ I get it, not everything is a problem but at least talk to the right person to help you determine that before dismissing it. What is the harm in getting your baby properly evaluated? Red flags can include:Mouth breathing/mouth often open Excessive drooling Slow feeding Milky tongue BlistersPoor weight gainDelayed motor skills such as rolling, crawling, walking Speech articulation Poor sleep Snoring Picky eating Poor regulation ā€œColicā€Reflux Head tilt Flat spotsAnd more…Ask questions. When I created this apparel/logo it was just a fun idea. However, the more people I meet, the more I realize that tongue tie is often misunderstood. Yes, a restricted tongue tie can affect breastfeeding. However, it can also affect the quality of how you breathe, the quality of how you sleep, and the quality of how you move your ENTIRE BODY. ā€œUntieMeā€ is not just about doing a frenectomy. In fact, I have many clients that don’t even need the procedure. It’s about rehabilitating the dysfunction and not ignoring the symptoms or parents’ concerns. Let’s spread awareness, together. Let’s have more conversations. Let’s propel change. It used to make me mad that children were not getting the right help. But honestly, now, it just makes me sad. They are either in the wrong therapy or no therapy at all. #spreadtheword #awareness #untieme #themoreyouknow #teamworkShoutout to Dr. Linda at @feminocentricpt for joining me on this fun journey. Check out her services for pregnant women. She helped my sister after she had her baby. 🩷 by @centerforinfantties

I’m Dr. Christine, a pediatric OT working with babies and toddlers for better sleep, breathing, feeding, and movement. I’m always on the search for fun and FUNctional activities for my clients. When I find a great product, I want everyone to know about it. There are so many toys out there that can hinder development. Bubbles will always be at the top of my list for kids. @innobabyllc @spiketoys couldn’t have designed a better product than this. It’s a safe, toxic-free, and developmentally appropriate product. Not only that, it’s a great supplement to any therapy, not just oral therapy. It gets our kiddos outside, for one. But also, facilitates gross motor, fine motor, and visual motor skills. Check it out and let me know what you think! I have a discount code if you need it: ORALTIES25#occupationaltherapy #themoreyouknow #parenting #parenthood #summervibes by @centerforinfantties

Monday Humor. šŸ¤©šŸ˜‚But also:1. Not having adequate tongue mobility, lip seal, and nasal breathing can lead to hygiene problems including bad breath, cavities, and teeth/jaw alignment (talk to your local dentist). 2. Just as babies and toddlers have difficulty biting, chewing, eating, talking, and breathing when they have tongue-tie related issues, adults can experience similar motor issues when it comes to kissing and other intimacy activities (talk to a myofunctional therapist).3. I don’t know what the leading cause of divorce is but after meeting thousands of clients, many have told me they often sleep in another room due to their partner’s snoring (talk to your attorney). 4. Tension in your mouth can absolutely trickle down to your toes. The body compensates with the mouth and thus can lead to asymmetry, tightness, and tension all over your body. For babies, this can impact their developmental milestones, reflex integration, and other motor skills (talk to your occupational therapist). #themoreyouknow #mondaymotivation #humor #education #funnyreels 🤩 The kidnapper is a paid actor. by @centerforinfantties

If you’re interested in trying the @ninnipacifier you can use my discount code ORALTIES25. Now, let’s talk about what you’re seeing in this video.Struggling isn’t always refusal. When babies have difficulty with the Ninni, many families assume their baby simply doesn’t like it and toss it in a drawer. But sometimes the pacifier is giving us important information. In this video, you’ll see the same baby before and after frenectomy. Before release, notice the clicking, body tension, frequent pauses, and extra effort needed to stay latched. While therapy helped improve positioning, tension, and feeding mechanics, there were still underlying restrictions affecting function. After frenectomy, we’re continuing to support her body and oral function—but notice the difference.✨ More tongue mobility✨ Less jaw compensation✨ More rhythm✨ More comfortThe Ninni wasn’t the problem—it was the clue. Now, it’s become a valuable tool to support her oral therapy, coordination, and skill development.Whether your baby uses a pacifier, bottle, or breast, difficulties with feeding deserve curiosity—not dismissal. Function always gives us information. šŸ’› www.oralties.com#sponsored #ad #babydevelopment #newborntips #occupationaltherapy by @centerforinfantties
