Headed home to the Low Country.

Part of the inspiration for our Low Country Cooker line came from a BBQ trip through the Carolinas that ended in Charleston. Inspired by the processes and people we’ve met along the way. The low country has been shipped across the US and internationally ever since.

We fabricated this custom Low Country trailer for Wallace Barbeque Co., fitted with expanded storage for wood, gear or Yeti coolers. Catch them around the greater Washington, DC area, and get in line for the ribs.

When first designing the blueprint for our custom smokers, function took priority over how it looked. Our doors needed to be easy to open for anyone working the pit room. It wasn’t a brain buster, we knew adding a counterweight was the obvious solution. They let the pit crew check what’s cooking without needing to be jacked like an athlete to get the door open.

The concept isn’t new, but when it was time to tack it on, we decided to repurpose Hex Kelly pipe used on drilling rigs. They have the weight, grit, looks cool and it’s a subtle nod to work life before fabricating custom smokers. Because they’re repurposed and had a different task before BBQ, we occasionally come across pipes with a brighter personality than others. Check out the blue on Crosstown Craft BBQ’s build, it’s in there.

That’s one of the cool things about the smoke and fire community, even our equipment has a story.
