One of the best parts of support work is stepping into the things that matter to our participants. 💙

Today, we joined one of our participants at the Men’s Shed, a hobby he enjoys and a space where he also gets to give back to his community.

We love seeing our participants connected, involved and contributing in ways that are meaningful to them.

For someone who hasn’t had many opportunities to get out of his SRS home for a meal in many years, J has officially found a new favourite. 🥰🍗

It was also a reminder of how meaningful it can be to simply share a meal with someone, the conversations, stories, laughs and connection.
So check in on your neighbour, your family, or someone you haven’t seen in a while. Invite them out for a meal, sit down for a chat and spend some time together.

It doesn’t have to be fancy.
Sometimes even a trip to KFC can become a really special memory.

Last night we accompanied our Panthers supporter to the game 🐾🏉

Learning to recognise, communicate and articulate his emotions and feelings in such a busy public setting is something he continues to work on, and last night was such a proud moment.
Supports aren’t always flashy lights and big events, but this one was pretty cool 💙

Sometimes the biggest wins are the quiet ones.

After years of not going out into the community, J is now stepping out again 👏

A simple trip to the shops and a coffee might seem small to others, but for J this is huge.

A big well done to his support worker Uma, whose patience, encouragement and care have helped make this possible.

Most people see a two-hour set.
They don’t see the hour of access planning before the doors open.
The stairs.
The timing.
The staying on stage because there’s no way out once the room fills.
They don’t see the extra logistics the entire band has to consider just to make the show possible.
Some venues are wheelchair friendly.
Most are not.
And it’s not just unfair for musicians with disabilities
It’s unfair for wheelchair users who love live music too, the fans who simply want to attend, move through a space safely, use a bathroom, and enjoy a night out without it feeling like an obstacle course.
Access shouldn’t depend on the building.
Talent shouldn’t depend on architecture.
And neither should the audience experience.
The music is the easy part.
