I help business owners see their money clearly enough to stop surviving and start choosing: the business they want, the life they want.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Financial failure is a topic that every small business owner fears. Because when you build a business, you do not start with the expectation that things might go wrong.

You start with Hope. Excitement. Plans. A belief that the work you are putting in will create something meaningful.

But when the reality of your numbers starts to feel different from what you expected, it can bring up a lot.

And before you have time to figure out the solutions, emotions knock on the door.

Shame is screaming: “How did I not know this?” “I should have seen this earlier.” “I should have known better.”

I understand that feeling deeply, as I was very close to financial failure. That season was full of fear, shame, and uncertainty.

But I overcame it now. What helped me move through it was not pretending everything was fine. It was getting the right support.

That support gave me clarity. And clarity helped me make different decisions.

That experience shaped the way I now approach money conversations with business owners.

They should not be about judgment.

They should be about helping you understand what is happening, what needs attention, and what the next step can be.

Because when shame takes over, people avoid the conversation.

But when the conversation feels safe, clarity becomes possible.

And clarity is often the first step toward making better financial decisions.

Thank you, Anita Ong, for creating this space for this important conversation.

If money has felt difficult to talk about lately, you do not have to figure it out alone.

Send me a message and let’s start with clarity.

Not every money leak looks like a major business problem.

Sometimes it looks like a subscription you signed up for last year.

A free trial that quietly became a paid plan. A yearly renewal you forgot was coming. A tool you no longer use, still connected to your card.

This morning, I checked my bank balance as part of my usual routine. And I got a surprise.

The amount sitting there did not match what I had forecasted.

I knew what I expected to see. I knew there were bills due to be paid.

But the number in front of me told a different story.

My first reaction was: Where did the money go?

So, I looked properly. And the answer was clear.

It was not one big expense. It was a few yearly subscriptions and automatic renewals that had quietly gone through.

Some were tools I had forgotten about. Some were connected to something I once needed but no longer used. Some belonged to an older version of my business.

That was the real reminder for me.

Money does not always leave loudly. Sometimes it leaves through decisions we made months ago and never came back to review.

A platform we thought we would use. A membership we meant to cancel.

A tool that made sense at the time. A recurring payment that quietly stayed.

This is why visibility matters.

Because every recurring payment is not just an expense, it is a decision that keeps repeating until you choose differently.

And if we do not pause to review those decisions, we may keep funding things that no longer support our direction, capacity, or growth.

So here is a simple place to start today:

Take 10 minutes to review your subscriptions, software, memberships, and recurring payments.

You might be surprised by what is quietly leaving.

The most dangerous money decisions in business rarely feel dramatic at first. They often start quietly.

A slow sales week. A bill you did not plan for. A client payment that still has not arrived. A tax deadline sitting in the back of your mind.

On the surface, it looks like a normal business challenge. But inside, your body starts reading it as a threat.

And when you do not have a clear picture of your money, fear starts deciding for you.

Should I hire? Can I afford this? Is my pricing right? Can I pay myself this month?

When you cannot clearly see what is happening with your money, your nervous system starts filling in the blanks.

And most of the time, it fills them with fear.

That is how uncertainty becomes a business risk.

Not just because the numbers are unclear, but because the owner starts reacting from urgency instead of responding from visibility.

This is why weekly cash flow is not just a money habit. It is a way of coming back to steadiness.

A weekly cash flow rhythm helps you see what is coming in, what is going out, what needs attention, and what decisions can wait.

The goal is not to remove uncertainty completely.

It is to stop uncertainty from deciding for you.

A financially healthy business is one where the owner has a rhythm for meeting uncertainty without abandoning herself, her values, or the numbers.

What is the money decision you keep circling back to because you do not feel like you have the full picture yet?

With only 5 days left, it’s hard to describe my feelings.

The closer we get to this webinar, the more I am reminded why this topic matters.

Because I see so many small business owners working hard, bringing money in, and growing their business, yet still feeling unsure about what is truly available, what needs to be set aside, and what they can confidently use.

Cash flow is not just about how much money comes in.

It is also about how money moves through your business, how decisions are made, and whether your structure is supporting the business you are trying to build.

That is why I am collaborating with Rosie Hargreaves from @amaroseaccounting
 for this one-off webinar:

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗚𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴? 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄, 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 & 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱

📅 Tuesday, 19 May 2026

⏰ 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

📍 Online webinar

In this session, we will bring together two important sides of business finance:

The way money flows through your business.

And the way your business structure supports, or sometimes limits, that flow.

I will be walking through cash flow, paying yourself sustainably, setting aside tax and GST, pricing, profitability, and the fundamentals of the Profit First approach.

Rosie Hargreaves will be sharing practical guidance on business structures, including sole trader, partnership, company, and trust, and what they mean for tax, liability, control, and compliance.

This session is for small business owners who are making money, but still second-guessing where it is going, what they can use, and whether their setup is still right for where the business is heading.

You will also receive the session recording, a Business Structure Checklist, practical questions to ask your accountant, and a 13-week cash flow forecast template.

Behind many “money problems” in business is a business owner who has been trying to figure it all out alone.

Cash flow. Tax planning. Pricing. Profit. Paying yourself properly.

These are not just numbers on a page.

They are the decisions business owners make every day, often without enough support, clarity, or confidence.

And when no one has shown you how to understand what is really happening in your numbers, it is easy to feel stuck, avoidant, or overwhelmed.

That is why I believe small business owners deserve support from someone who can sit beside them, slow things down, and help them make sense of what is actually happening.

Financial confidence does not come from being told what you should have done earlier.

It comes from being shown what to look at, what it means, and what step to take next.

That is why I am running this free webinar:

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀

Being a collaborative partner with Queensland Small Business Month this year feels deeply aligned with Cents & Solutions’ mission.

My work sits in the space between financial knowledge and financial behaviour.
Many business owners know what they should be doing, but still feel overwhelmed when it comes to making confident financial decisions.

Through these initiatives, I have the opportunity to give back to the small business community in a practical and meaningful way.

It has also reminded me that business owners are carrying a lot, not just financially, but emotionally and operationally too.

And that matters.

Because financial clarity is not just about reading reports or knowing your numbers. It is about feeling more confident, prepared and in control of the decisions you are making.

This May, I’ll be involved in four initiatives supporting small business owners:

You may not know what financial clarity looks like, but you are familiar with confusion.

“I didn’t even know what questions to ask.” “I thought I understood my numbers… until things got more complex.”

Two different business owners. Same experience.

Before working with us, they were:

● Avoiding their numbers because it felt overwhelming
● Keeping things simple just to cope
● Second-guessing decisions

Not because they lacked capability. But because they lacked clarity.

That’s where the shift needs to happen.

By not doing more. But in understanding what they were looking at.

They started to:

● See what was actually happening in their business
● Know what was costing them money
● Make decisions with confidence
● Use their numbers as a tool, not something to avoid

And the biggest change?

Less stress. More control.

That’s what financial clarity actually looks like.

👉 If this feels familiar, you don’t have to figure it out alone. Book a Financial Clarity Call via the link in the comments.

When the person who wrote Profit First says this about your certification… it carries a different level of weight.

Recently, @mikemichalowicz shared this with me after I became a Certified Profit First Professional.

In the video, he speaks to something that sits at the core of my work, which is helping business owners not just generate profit, but sustain it over time.

Because making money is one thing. Maintaining clarity and control around it is another.

A few weeks ago, my marketing colleague said to me, “I don’t really understand the difference between profit and cash flow.”

And honestly, she’s not the only one.

I was recently speaking with Charlotte from Enever Group, and we both noticed how often this comes up.

Because on the surface, it feels like they should mean the same thing.

If your business is profitable…it should be doing well, right?

But this is usually where the confusion starts.

You can be making money on paper, and still not feel clear about what’s actually happening in your business.

That’s because profit and cash flow are connected, but they’re not the same.

And when that distinction isn’t clear, it becomes much harder to trust your numbers.

🎥 In this video, I walk through the difference simply, so you can start seeing your numbers with more clarity.

The business was growing. Her confidence wasn’t.

From the outside, everything looked like it was working. Clients were coming in, and revenue was steady.

But when we reviewed her numbers, she said something that stayed with me: “I just don’t feel like I know what’s going on.”

So every decision started to feel heavier than it should.

And it usually showed up in questions like:

• Can I afford this?

• Am I paying myself properly?

• Is this actually sustainable?

Nothing was necessarily wrong with the numbers. But nothing felt solid either.

That’s usually where we begin.

Not by doing more, but by helping her make sense of what’s already there.

Because once her numbers became clear, everything else started to settle.

The questions became easier to answer. The decisions felt more grounded. The pressure eased.

That’s also what I wanted to show you here. The 4 key numbers I walk through with clients, and what to look for when something feels “off.”

Because clarity doesn’t come from learning more. It comes from understanding what you’re already looking at.

👇 Swipe through to take a closer look.

If you’d like support applying this to your business, you can book a Financial Clarity Call via the link in the comments.

I’ve recently become officially certified by @profitfirstanz!

But more than the certification itself, this represents something deeper.

The Profit First approach changed how I see cash flow in my own business. Not by adding complexity, but by creating clarity.

Because often, the challenge isn’t a lack of effort. It’s a lack of visibility.

And when you can clearly see what’s happening in your numbers, your decisions start to feel a lot more confident.

This is something I now bring into the way I support my clients, helping them move from uncertainty to clarity, one step at a time.

If you’ve been feeling unsure about your finances and want a clearer way forward, you’re welcome to book a complimentary call here: https://centsandsolutions.com.au/book/

Most people think the hardest part of Profit First is the setup.

The multiple bank accounts. The percentages. The system itself.

But in my experience, both personally and with the business owners I work with, that's rarely where the real challenge lives.

The hardest part is what comes after.

Week one feels exciting. You're doing something different, something intentional. But then week three arrives. The novelty fades. The extra steps start to feel like a burden. And that quiet voice in the back of your mind starts whispering: "Maybe this just isn't for me."

I heard that voice, too.

And I realised it wasn't the system talking. It was the part of me that still wanted new results without fully letting go of old habits.

Because that's what Profit First really asks of you. Not just a new way of managing money, but a willingness to sit with discomfort long enough for a new habit to take root.

That's the part nobody warns you about.

The discomfort isn't a sign that something is wrong. It's a sign that something is changing. And change, real, lasting change, takes longer than we want it to.

If you're somewhere in that messy middle right now, I want you to know that feeling is normal. It's part of the process.

Stick with it.

Have you experienced this in your own Profit First journey? Comment “PROCESS”, or share what’s been hardest for you. I’d love to hear!
