Every publication has a purpose.

Over time, I’ve realised that Cerina Life isn’t simply a place where I write about health.

It’s where I explore what it means to live well.

Sometimes that conversation begins with biology.

Sometimes it begins with a walk through the garden.

Sometimes it begins with a difficult season, a new idea, or an ordinary week that quietly changes the way I see the world.

Different starting points.

The same conversation.

TABLE @GAIA · NO. 02

When we first dreamed up Table @ Gaia, the idea came from something we have always loved about visiting the Cape: those long Sunday lunches at wine farms.

The beautiful settings, generous food, good wine, hours of conversation and laughter. The feeling that there is nowhere else you need to be and no reason to rush home.

We wanted to bring a little of that feeling to Namibia.

And so Table @ Gaia was born.

The idea is simple: one long table, a beautiful setting, a chef preparing a generous sharing-style meal, and a group of people coming together for an afternoon.

You’ll sit next to friends, but also people you might never have met otherwise. And that’s part of the magic. An unexpected conversation, a new connection, a different perspective, or simply a few hours of good food and laughter with people you didn’t know when you arrived.

For our second gathering, we’re setting the table again at GAIA Explore on Sunday, 8 November.

Twenty places. A long lunch. Good food, good company and an afternoon to slow down and enjoy.

Sometimes the things that used to make perfect sense no longer do.

A career.
A relationship.
A definition of success.
A lifestyle.
A version of yourself.

It can be tempting to interpret that as confusion.

But maybe something else is happening…

Maybe you’re noticing that the person you are now has different needs, values and priorities from the person you were five or ten years ago.

Or even three years ago…

And not every old answer needs to be carried forward.

Sometimes growth is less about finding a new answer…

and more about recognising that the old one no longer fits.

Sending you love if you find yourself in something like this. 🤎

I’ve been noticing...

The seasons where I feel most lost are rarely the seasons where I’ve lost direction.

They’re usually the seasons where I’ve outgrown an old identity but haven’t fully stepped into the next one.

It feels uncomfortable.

It also feels surprisingly necessary.

Growth isn’t always about adding.

Sometimes it’s about becoming unfamiliar with who we used to be. by @cerinabzd

Living in the in-between at the moment.

Comparing myself to every single woman out there.

The younger, funner ones. The mature ones. The more successful ones. The ones with kids. The ones running businesses and departments and their boss’s lives.
The ones being brave — to be themselves, to challenge themselves, to love themselves.
The ones doing life as a mom, a wife and a woman with a career.
The ones who seem to have settled into stillness, contentment oozing from them, femininity radiating from them.
 Me?
Trying very hard not to judge.
Trying to accept people as they are.
Trying not to yearn for what someone else has.
Instead, trying to be grateful, and see my jealousy as a trigger for something I now know is possible.

Struggling a little with God and what this life is supposed to be.
Am I supposed to co-create, or should I trust?
Because many, many times my “co-creation” never worked out.
Or did I co-create this pile?
Or…
am I so unsure of what I want to create, constantly changing my mind, that my co-creator is simply saying:
“When you make up your mind, let me know, and I’ll do my part.”

Am I still in my girl-in-clown-pants era?
Am I not supposed to have figured this out by now?!

Imagine it’s true.

If my presence matters…
If gratitude matters…
If prayer matters…
If my dogs can sense my inner world…
If my husband experiences the quiet condition of my heart, not only the sweet words I speak…

How would You live?

Would you rush into conversations carrying resentment?
Would you speak to yourself the way you sometimes do?
Would you treat your body differently?
Would you pray differently?
Would you lead differently?
Would you write differently?

This sentence made me uncomfortable. Mostly because I realised it applied to me first. 😊

Getting up and actually working out.
Doing the meditation on days I feel great!
Staying present.
Having hard converstations.
Choosing to show my heart vulnerably.
Writing and trusting that it has purpose.

The life we hope for is often built through beautifully ordinary things.
Not exciting things. Just repeated ones. by @cerinabzd
