Comment “macro” and I’ll send you a link so you don’t need to buy a macro lens for a while 😮‍💨 - Diopters are an easy way to convert any lens into a macro lens in the cheapest possible way. Try using them with a wide angle lens like 20mm or 24mm! it gives a pretty sick look 🏄‍♂️ by @cesarlorca_
Comment “MATTE” and I’ll send you a link to these ✈️ - Putting a dope song while using these can make such a dope vibe 🏄‍♂️ by @cesarlorca_
Its flash loads like bullets. On May 1, 1952, a riot broke out outside the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. Police officers trying to photograph the crowd got hurt, because it's hard to watch your back with your eye pressed to a viewfinder. So the police asked camera makers for something they could shoot without raising it to their face. Doryu built them a pistol. The Doryu 2-16 shoots 16mm film, and the grip holds a magazine of six magnesium flash cartridges. Pull the trigger and it fires the shutter and the flash. Pull the slide back and it ejects the spent cartridge and loads the next one, just like a real gun. By the time it was ready, the police had already picked Mamiya's pistol camera instead. Doryu tried selling it to regular people. Almost nobody bought one. Today they go for over $10,000 at auction. by @cesarlorca_
He thought it was a compliment… Tobi Vail played drums in Bikini Kill, and a local singer in Olympia was falling apart over her. Her bandmate Kathleen Hanna watched the whole thing up close. One night Hanna and the singer got drunk, and it ended at his apartment with her writing on his bedroom wall in marker. One of the things she wrote was “Kurt smells like Teen Spirit.” That Kurt was Kurt Cobain. Teen Spirit was Vail’s deodorant, so the line meant he smelled like her. He’d never heard of the brand, and took it as a compliment. Months later he called and asked to use it. She said sure, because she couldn’t picture anyone fitting it into a song. He said he didn’t know the deodorant existed until months after the single came out, and that he’d never worn deodorant in his life. by @cesarlorca_

The label buried it. Radio saved it July 1984. Jam Studios. Marr puts down a rhythm track on a Casino, then they send it back out into the room through a wall of Fender Twins with the tremolo on. He’s riding half the amps. Producer John Porter is riding the other half. The amps keep drifting apart, so they record the whole thing in ten second bursts. Porter thought it was the one. Rough Trade thought it didn’t sound enough like the Smiths and stuck it on the back of a two minute single. Then Peel played it. Janice Long played it. Annie Nightingale played it. By that autumn it was the most requested song on late night British radio. by @cesarlorca_
The record leaked. So did his address. Last track of Another One, 2015. He reads out the street number and says stop on by, I’ll make you a cup of coffee. The idea was that you had to earn it. Sit through the record, take the train an hour past everything, and the coffee is yours. Then the album leaked early, and he was home for all of it. Thirty people had been to the house before release day. Check the end of your favorite albums. by @cesarlorca_
Sony helped kill the record, then made this. In 1983 they released the PS-F5. A turntable that plays vinyl standing straight up, on four AA batteries. People called it the Flamingo, because it balances on one small foot with the record spinning sideways against gravity. Playing a record vertically should not work. The stylus weighs almost nothing and gravity is pulling the wrong direction. So Sony clamped the record flat and ran the tonearm on a linear track instead of a pivot. It solved a problem nobody had. The Walkman had won. The CD was four months old. And it didn’t even have a speaker. Just two headphone jacks. One for you. One for someone else. The Walkman was built for one person walking away. This was built for two people staying put. What record are you putting on first? by @cesarlorca_
The Halo theme exists because of a bug. In July 1999 Bungie was days out from unveiling a new game and the sound engine didn’t work on the Mac. The fix they landed on was almost stupid. Write a piece of music, burn it to a CD, and press play while the demo runs. Marty O’Donnell wasn’t a film composer. He came up writing commercial jingles. He worked out the melody humming to himself in the car on the way home and landed on Gregorian chant. He wanted one of the session singers to take the vocal solo, sang one example of what he meant, and the room told him to just use his take. Written and recorded in three days. Almost nothing else from that demo survived. Mac and PC became an Xbox launch title, third person became first person and Bungie got sold to Microsoft. The music is the only thing they never touched again. Nobody was trying to write the Halo theme that day. They were covering for a broken build. And twenty seven years later, it’s still the reason grown adults start chanting in public bathrooms. by @cesarlorca_
This album exists because they got evicted. In 1993 Alice in Chains came home from Lollapalooza to find they’d lost their apartment, so they booked ten days at London Bridge Studio in Seattle just to have a place to sleep. Their producer showed up ready to work and asked to hear the songs. There were no songs. They asked if they could just jam instead. The tape rolled, Layne turned whatever stuck into lyrics, and they walked out with seven songs they never planned to release. Jar of Flies debuted at number 1, the first EP in history to do it, and nobody matched it for another decade. They weren’t trying to make a masterpiece. It makes you wonder what you’ve already made by accident and dismissed. by @cesarlorca_
The scariest guy in electronic music wrote this Aphex Twin built a career on grinning masks and making music from ambient to experimental. But one song sticks out. Nine tracks into Drukqs, he dropped Avril 14th: two minutes of piano so tender it gets played at weddings. Kanye built Blame Game around it. On a gentler album it would just be a pretty song. But surrounded by all the chaos of the album, it stops being pretty and feels like a true emotional statement piece. by @cesarlorca_
