10 Years! On this Loc’d Journey! 😉

What started as a journey to carry me through my MS journey has grown right along with me. 🤍

My, how grateful I am. Through every lesson, every change, every experience… these locs have a story to tell! 🥹

I often delay my posts, but hey… tomorrow isn’t promised! 💁🏾‍♀️

It’s been an absolute honor to be a part of KanKouran, both administratively and artistically. I’m deeply grateful for every opportunity, lesson, and experience this chapter has brought me.

✨🤍 Glimmers of Gratitude… 🫶🏾

Ten years ago, I came to this very same conference in Baltimore, MD! 💃🏾

Much gratitude to Keur Khaleyi African Dance Company and everyone who was part of that chapter of my journey.

Back in 2016, I arrived with the understanding that my health was finally turning a corner after my first MS relapse… 👀

Instead, as time went on, I found myself still in the midst of that same relapse—with extreme blurred vision and a body that was changing faster than the flight that brought me there.

I sat at the front of the dance floor, letting the drums nourish my soul while straining to see the dancers and teachers right in front of me.

My soul wanted to dance, but the same legs that once carried me across the dance floor felt like noodles and sacks of potatoes. (👀 Like for real. It was surreal…) 😱

Ten years later, I can finally say that I feel dance again.

Dance, to me, is a feeling first and so much more…

And my… how good it is to feel again.

How humbling it is to come home to self.

To spend years training to know exactly where my body was in space, only to lose that connection.

To feel disconnected from the very thing that once made me feel most alive.

And then one day, to finally… finally feel it again.

And not shy away from being witnessed in this gift of life. ✨🤍

To feel rhythm again.

To feel joy again.

To feel at home in my body again.

To feel safe again.

To feel welcomed in God’s presence again. 🙏🏾

This is the reclaim.

This is for everyone healing from something they didn’t choose.

Release it, sis… it’s over… it’s over.

And even if it isn’t fully over yet, claim it… it will be.

The Divine is waiting on you to decide abundance is your birthright. 🙇🏾‍♀️

You can and you will BE again. 🫂

Let’s dance into OUR next chapter. 🤍✨💃🏾

I hope you’ll stay on this healing journey with me as I remember the dancer I am. 💃🏾

Because somewhere along the way, I stopped surviving and started dancing again. 💃🏾

And my… what a gift it is to feel alive again.

To come home to myself again. 🤍✨
