Wearing feelings on my collar ☀️💘 As much as I love making elaborated dresses with complex construction details, I've been longing to make something that feels like small fragments of the world of CETACEA, something that carries the sense of wonder and romance yet more versatile and fun to style with. Vintage tablecloth transformation continued 🌻 Learned this technique while examining the original embroidery work. I swapped out the old thread that held the twist together and opted for a spool of vintage green ribbon from a recent Buy Nothing find for stronger bind. Pleased that the ribbon makes the yellow flowers even more vibrant. Going to turn it into a skirt to match the blouse from earlier this week. Footage of the Whisper Dress 🎐 The Whisper Dress is an exploration of textile composition and illusory volume. It began with a tapestry-weight fabric I found at a thrift store and grew from there. Inspired by its layered floral motifs in soft pastels and white crochet style, I created a six-panel skirt made out of medium-weight satin shaped through soft draping, and topped with a sheer layer of ivory tulle. Special thanks to @fitcps and my local Buy Nothing group for the generous materials that made this project possible and meaningful. Creating with what's already in my fabric stash has been quite an exciting challenge creatively and often ended up sparking new ideas ✨ Please DM to inquire sizing and customization options.
