A little bit late in life, to find out I'm a cat-person.

Hand-illustrated with ink, circa 2026.

It's the last day of Scarefest 11! There's been a great turnout so far, but there's still plenty of bad@$$ art to take home 🎃

I’m slipping away from here for a little while; to find some inspiration, and see what the moon might restore.

Commissions are temporarily Closed.

Eyes inked the blue of stolen skyscapes.
Lips, the pink of lost memories.

She sees what’s coming
and smiles.

Would you?

A glimpse of the madness before it became proper lunacy.

Be honest…
if we’d met back then, would you have run?

Or kept up?

Initial inks finished (darker inks to come).

The last ghosts of pencil erased.

Now, words;

'An ocean of irises' has been haunting the edges of this piece since somewhere near the beginning, so I’ve decided to let the poem become part of the illustration itself. Not a caption beneath it, but something written into its bones.

And tonight seemed an especially fitting night to share the next stage: thirty years ago today, Ænima entered the world, with *Third Eye* waiting at its end.

Still more darkness to come.

Perhaps there is a little madness in all of us.

A hunger for the beautiful things that should frighten us.

For shadows that linger too close.

For the touch of something just beyond the veil.

What sees you, in the reaching dark?

The shadows grow closer still.

What once had reached, now knows the coldness of her skin.

This hand-drawn piece is nearly finished.

A special thank you to the wonderfully gifted @erinthul__ for her work, her inspiration, and for lending her distinctive, haunting aesthetic to this piece.

Been watching *X-Men '97* with my oldest, & am proud to announce that I've officially done my duty as a father:

He's proper-addicted to the X-Men. 🤘

It also sent me digging to rediscover these along the way:

Cyclops. X-23. Kitty Pryde. Mystique. Psylocke.

Who was *your* X-Men obsession growing up?

Something has found her in the dark.

Are the fingers reaching for her...

...or are they her own?

The first lines of a new hand-drawn ink illustration.

She could have been afraid.

Instead, she stopped.

And in the silence between them, something ancient seemed to recognize her.

Ink over pencils on this hand-drawn dark fantasy piece.
