WHEN AI MAKES WILDLIFE LOOK LIKE ENTERTAINMENT 💔📲

From a chimpanzee “unboxing” itself from a delivery package to hyper-realistic eagle videos that could pass for real wildlife footage, AI-generated animal content is becoming increasingly convincing, and sometimes increasingly bizarre.

Recent online discussion around an AI-generated tiger video, shared following a fatal tiger incident at a UK wildlife park, highlights a bigger question: what happens when fabricated wildlife encounters become part of our everyday feeds?

Even when no real animal is involved in creating a video, the content can still influence how we perceive wildlife. Unrealistic behaviour may be mistaken for reality, dangerous interactions can look harmless, and animal suffering can become just another form of entertainment.

The issue isn’t simply whether a video is AI-generated. It’s what the content portrays, what it leads people to believe, and how it shapes attitudes towards animals.

Not every AI-generated animal video is harmful. But it’s worth looking beyond the views and asking what message it sends.

We took a look at the diseases that threaten wildlife and their health between the period of January and March 2026.

Of the 11 diseases reported during this period, avian influenza affected the highest number of endangered and vulnerable species.

Species threatened with extinction are few in numbers and rely on a limited geographic distribution, and therefore, their population may not recover from a significant disease outbreak.

The detection of avian influenza in species with a vulnerable conservation status is not new, it is a common and consistent finding in our analysis, highlighting the potentially detrimental impact of this disease on biodiversity conservation, due to additional mortality.

The rainy season is approaching, and our shelter dogs need warm, dry blankets to help them stay cozy and comfortable. 🐾 Blankets bring comfort and protection whenever the days turn cold.

We’re kindly asking for blanket donations. 🐶 Every donation, big or small, can help give a dog a warm place to rest and feel secure through the weather ahead.

Where to donate:
🏡 Drop blankets off at The Cactus Animal Shelter
📩 Contact us to arrange pickup if needed
