My new EP will be called ‘VEXED.’ I’ve been uploading my music to the internet for over 13 years now. Last night, I logged into my old bandcamp and found my first ever beats, EPs, remixes and a couple tracks with vocal performances. It really got me thinking seeing those dates say February 2015, album covers in my sisters duplex where I recorded my first song. I started making beats because I wanted to freestyle and write to music that essentially wasn’t ripped from YouTube or downloaded off bandcamp. So, I downloaded FL studio and got to work. I got extremely passionate about learning how to produce music and record vocals. I’ve had amazing times since then and horrible times since then. Somewhere in the mix, I lost myself to addiction. I stopped writing. I stopped recording myself. I lost my vision and forgot my goals. Despite that, I have had wonderful artistic experiences, spent so many days, weeks creating music, art and history with other artists that I look up to and respect. It’s gotten me to places I never imagined getting to. I then spent a long time pretty much stagnant, not growing as a person or improving myself, just hurting myself and everyone around me. I ruined countless opportunities, blew a hundred chances, burned a thousand bridges and pissed all over my own sense of passion. I’ve tried sobriety countless times, been to rehab twice, spent time in homeless shelters, facilities, the streets and nothing worked for me. Something clicked 133 days ago though. It’s indescribable for me at this point and I’m hoping to one day understand what it was but since then I’ve been putting in a lot of effort to carve a new path for myself through sobriety, self care and self work. Well, I woke up one day recently and felt that passion that I used to have. It was confusing but familiar and comforting, like getting into the drivers seat of your friends car for the first and pressing on the gas. Everything has been flowing out of me, pouring out of me. I want to redeem my past self. I want to prove that my passion didn’t die. So, Vexed will be fully produced, mixed, mastered and engineered by me.
