Here's some bts from my recent personal project, along with a few tiny bits of what worked and what didn't.

I had a ton of fun working with Pyro, FLIP, and Vellum, and bringing it all into Solaris USD and rendered using Karma. I am a sucker for the dirty lens look, so I loved adding more and more of it in comp using Nuke, which was another really fun part of the process.

candle.

making the move from unreal to houdini this year. i had to build my entire pipeline from scratch. everything from fx and rendering with karma to scene assembly in solaris with usd workflow. i even took the chance to dive into nuke for compositing.

it’s been one problem after another, but that’s where the fun is.

vfx breakdown from our recent short film, menembus cakrawala.

this is my first experience working as a vfx artist. It's quite challenging for me but i really had fun being part of this.
-
in early pre-production we have planned some shot that gonna needed vfx treatment but unfortunately, we decided not gonna do it. instead, i end up work on some shot that you may have look above that unexpectedly needed to fix.
-
i using runways green screen (slide 2) that basically is a machine learning that help me to rotoscoping the shot. even though I don’t know how the ML works yet, it's really helpful to have that kind of tech in the workflow.

i have so many things to learn. really excited about the future making more stuff. first of many to come.

pen pineapple apple drawing pen.

trying to achieve a photoreal look render, it's just pretty good i guess but there is still a lot of things that need to improve.
-
it's funny how i underestimated this project at the first time because i thought just a small object, so obviously it didn't take a long time.
-
but after dive in, it's a really challenging process for me, particularly in every stage of the production pipeline (modeling, texturing, lighting, compositing).

after all it took me about 3 weeks of rough to get it done, way longer than i expected but i really enjoy every process of it really.
