The Bible doesn’t dress this up. Proverbs 22:7 says the borrower is servant to the lender — not “the borrower is inconvenienced,” not “the borrower is a little behind.” Servant. That word was chosen on purpose.

Here’s what that actually means in practice: every dollar you owe is a dollar of your future labor already spoken for, before you’ve even earned it. You go to work, you clock in, you put in real hours — but part of that paycheck was claimed the moment you took on the debt. That’s why grinding harder doesn’t always feel like it’s working. It’s not that you’re lazy. It’s that the work isn’t building anything new right now — it’s just catching up on yesterday’s decisions.

And it doesn’t stop at money. Debt quietly costs you options too — the ability to invest, to protect your family properly, to start building something for the next generation — because everything coming in is already accounted for going out. That’s the real weight of it.

So here’s the truth nobody wants to hear: a bigger paycheck doesn’t fix this. A raise just means a bigger portion goes right back out the door the same way it always has. What actually changes it is a real plan — not motivation, not a New Year’s resolution, an actual structured way to get out from under what’s owed.

Two servants took a risk and multiplied what they had. One let fear talk him into digging a hole and burying it - and ended up with nothing to show for it. Same opportunity, different response.

Twenty-five years later, and it still stops me in my tracks. I remember exactly where I was, exactly what the morning felt like, exactly how quiet everything felt afterward. Today isn’t about reliving the tragedy — it’s about honoring what came out of it. The first responders who ran toward the danger. The families who rebuilt their lives one impossible day at a time. The country that, for a moment, remembered we’re all in this together. I still cant believe I was supposed to be there working. I made a decision to not go for fashion week. What?!? Why would I do that? Now I know.

That’s what legacy means to me. It’s not just the wealth we build or the plans we put in place — it’s what we choose to carry forward and what we choose to pass on even though we don’t know why things happen. The people we lost that day didn’t get to finish their stories. So we finish them for them, by living ours with purpose, by protecting our families, and by never taking a single ordinary morning for granted.

We remember. We rebuild. We move forward — together.

2,977 lights. 2,977 lives.
Last night, the Twin Towers rose over New York Harbor once again - this time in the sky, created by 2,977 drones, one for every life lost on September 11, 2001.
25 years later, we remember them.
We #remember their families.
We remember the heroes who ran toward the danger.
And we remember a day that changed America forever.
May we #neverforget the lives behind the number.
