Traditional Engagement in Kerala: More Than Just Rings ✨

In Kerala’s Hindu tradition, the engagement ceremony, known as Nishchayam, is a deeply meaningful and dignified event.

The highlight of the ceremony is the formal exchange of documents between the parents, which acts as a traditional "signing of commitment." 📜

Before any date is finalized, priests perform Eluthu Kettu — a detailed reading and matching of the bride and groom’s horoscopes. They check star compatibility (Nakshatra), ensure there are no astrological flaws (Dosha), and select the most auspicious time (Muhurat).

In other words, this "signing" is a beautiful ritual exchange of horoscopes and family agreements rather than a Western legal contract. The true party is saved for t taken in Eranakulam Marine Drive by @ch.olexa

Kochi 🇮🇳
Received prayer beads and a blessing from a Sadhu in Kochi 🇮🇳
Sadhus are Indian wandering monks and holy ascetics who have completely renounced worldly life. They dedicate themselves to a spiritual path through meditation, yoga, and the rejection of material possessions.
In India, Sadhus are treated with deep respect—they are called "Baba" and are revered as spiritual mentors.

Morning routine: Marine Drive edition. ⚓️✨
Fresh breeze, seagull cries, and the first sip of coffee. The best time to simply slow down and breathe.
