People We Meet on Vacation book + movie review 🌴

my first read and review of 2026! 🧡

with most of the other Emily Henry books i’ve read, i never felt fully invested in the story or connected with the characters. this time though, it was the complete opposite! while this book didn’t hit me as hard as Happy Place, i still enjoyed it and like i always say, a win is a win 🤷🏻‍♀️

first of all, a friends to lovers romance centred around travelling and vacations?! say less!!! there’s just something about that trope that gets me every time. i adored Poppy and Alex’s friendship—their silliness and the way they could be unapologetically themselves with each other 🥹🥹🥹 and the tension? the angst?? i eat it up every 👏🏻 single 👏🏻 time 👏🏻

my only gripe was how the conflict surrounding croatia was never fully addressed—almost as if nothing actually happened :/

moving on to the movie: i watched it the day after finishing the book and had a fun time! rom-coms are so back!!! Emily Bader absolutely nailed her role—she truly embodied Poppy. Tom Blyth did well too, but Emily completely stole the show for me (2026 is officially the year of being unapologetically ourselves ‼️). that said, i wasn’t a huge fan of how many important moments from the book were left out :/

3 (very popular) book series on my 2026 priority TBR!

so many of my besties have been recommending these to me and they’ve been sitting on my TBR shelf for a while now so this year is finally the year i read them 🤞🏻

p.s. i won’t lie, i’m not 100% satisfied with my posts because i feel like they don’t reflect my full potential…? 😭 that said, i’m only allowing myself at most an hour to edit booksta posts because booksta isn’t my main priority this year 😔 honestly, creating a booksta wasn’t even something i ever planned on doing (fun fact: @youssraabedelmalak told me there was a GC with all the goodreads girlies on instagram and i had major FOMO so here we are! 😅 i never thought i’d actually post either but i get influenced way too easily 😭)

this year, my main focus is my full-time job, part-time uni, reading (of course), writing reviews on goodreads + interacting with my goodreads besties, and getting back into deco/journaling (if you’re into k-pop, deco, or journaling, you can find me on my deco account @kittyjwn 🤭) so realistically, i won’t have much time to focus on booksta. just thinking about everything i want to do already has me stressed and overwhelmed—so many things, so little time 😭💔

all that to say: i genuinely love designing, editing, and sharing bookish content, but i have other priorities this year so i’ll only be posting here occasionally ~
