I finally completed a piece I started a while back. It all started when I felt a nudge to look deeper into some African tribes whose aesthetics I’d seen repeatedly but never truly understood. That search led me to learn about the Mursi tribe of Southern Ethiopia - known for their striking body and face paints, their elaborate horn/tusk adorned headdresses, and not forgetting (but I did forget, lol) the iconic lip plates worn by women as a powerful form of cultural expression..I found their visual language powerful and poetic… and it inspired me to create this piece (with a few add-ons)However, there will be more! Back in October, I shared the early stages of this piece and did a bit of rendering to some of them.I told myself I wouldn’t let it go unfinished and I’m glad I stuck with it. I ended up learning quite a lot about lighting, value, and even reworked some of them along the way.
