WATCH Former President Trump answer my question — and speak about California, water, fish, my question, and Spectrum News.

Today at the Trump National Golf Course I asked former President Trump what he plans to do, if elected to help the many Californians whose homes are threatened right now in Rancho Palos Verdes due to land slides, across the state due to fires and in many other places due natural disasters.

He held the press conference in California after attending a fundraiser on Thursday and before heading to the battleground state of Nevada.

In January of this year, just over six months ago, LA experienced some of the most damaging fires in California history. On Tuesday, January 7th I first saw smoke around 10 am billowing over the Palisades and followed it until I came to some houses near the top of the highlands where fire had already exploded on the mountain. It was the beginning of an extraordinary and heartbreaking day. Myself and so many other reporters were out until late into the night and early Wednesday morning trying to make sense of what we were witnessing. I spent many hours on PCH, by Will Rogers Beach — my beach! Where I have gone my whole life.

A few weeks ago I was covering another historic moment in LA — the anti- ICE protests, when @keegan_holden came over and asked if this was a photo of me and photographer @pnankivell at Will Rogers. It was! I couldn’t believe it. Keegan is a photographer getting an MFA at UCLA.

It felt wild that we crossed paths again during these two extraordinary moments in Los Angeles history. I’m so grateful to cover this city I love and I’m so so thankful to everyone who speaks with me and watches.❤️ taken in Los Angeles, California by @chacebeech

If you read anything today about 9/11 today, I recommend this article: "What Bobby Mcilvaine Left Behind" published in The Atlantic in 2021 on the 20th anniversary of the attack. The piece is by Jennifer Senior. I don't believe it's paywalled, I'll link in stories. by @chacebeech

At 7pm tonight Mayor Bass and Council member Nithya Raman will go head to head in a debate. You can watch it on the Sherman Oaks Homeowners association website or listen on 89.3 fm. It’s not airing on TV. I’m curious what LA City voters hope they discuss? We will be covering the debate tonight and tomorrow AM on @spectrumnews1socal ! 🗳️ taken in Sherman Oaks by @chacebeech
