I never thought I would be saying this so early. Hockey has truly been what I lived for for the past ten years and it’s so hard for me to know that my hockey journey is over. Hockey provided me some of my favorite memories and some of the best people Ive ever met in my life. I’m more than grateful that I formed some lifelong friendships through the sport. Every team that Ive had the opportunity to play for thank you for everything. I wouldnt be where I am today without all of my past teammates. Over the past few years I have had a love hate relationship with hockey. Around 7 months ago my mental health struggles really started getting serious, a lot of which was contributed to feeling like Im failing at what I want, that not everything Im putting into the sport was giving me results that I was wanting to receive and it really put me down to a point I have never really reached before. It has gotten worse really for the whole summer to this point has seriously been the lowest part of my life. I know this will hit people hard but I’ve almost taken my life 3 different times over the past 2 and half months, something that is hard for me to admit but it’s really almost happened and I’ve really struggled in every aspect of life including relationships, confidence and just getting through life everyday. Even with the fact its so painful to say Hockey is over Im trying so hard to move on and continue on my road to getting better, Im grateful to those who stuck by me and also THANK GOD that I got to experience hockey in my lifetime. I ask God why my options of what I was going to this year were what they were and wish everything was a different way but it unfortunately wasn’t. Thank you for reading this and God Bless you. by @chacewigen
