💕🦄 "Rules of the Realm or: A Topical Triptych for the Modern Era" (1 of 3) 🦄💕

Taking inspiration from medieval tapestries, illuminated manuscripts, and the fantasy stories of my youth, I wanted to present some basic ground rules for what an ideal realm would be like. Maybe if we strive to accept, understand, and stand up for each other and reject the rampant tyranny that seeks to further divide us, this utopian world will become less fantastical and more of something that is well within the realm of possibility.

REALM is on display now through June in the @floridarama.art Gallery at @thefactorystpete and online at chadmize.com/exhibits/realm (link in bio).

#Art #GalleryArt #StPeteArt #AcrylicPanting #ProtectTransKids An acrylic painting by Chad Jacobs that depicts two unicorn foals happily frolicking in a green field around an adult unicorn. The adult unicorn is off-white with a pink muzzle and a silvery horn and hooves. One foal is blue with pink markings and is exchanging a loving glance with the adult unicorn while resting on its back; the other is pink with blue markings and is playing in the grass in front of the adult unicorn. Both foals have manes and tails in the colors of the trans pride flag and silvery hooves and horns like the adult unicorn, but their horns are significantly shorter. Above the scene is a block of text that reads “Protect Trans Kids” in bright yellow letters. The horn of the adult unicorn extends through the “d” in “Kids” and the “s” in “Trans.” This is painted on a panel with a carved out trench that makes the painting appear as though it is floating inside a Gothic-style frame. The frame is gold, and the trench is yellow to match the lettering in the painting. There is also a matching yellow dot in the bottom right corner of the painting that contains the artist’s signature: the name “CHAD!” with “2026” below it and a small heart above it. The piece is hanging on a textured black wall. taken in The Factory Tenants by @chaddjacobs

#Art #GalleryArt #StPeteArt #AcrylicPanting #NoKings An acrylic painting by Chad Jacobs that depicts a headless statue of a king on a textured blue background. The statue is tarnished silver and is of a figure in a suit with an absurdly long tie and noticeably small hands. The hand on the right of the painting is clutching an orb that looks suspiciously like a McDonald’s hamburger, while the hand on the left holds a scepter topped with a tiny baseball cap instead of a crown. There is an upside-down American flag on the lapel of the jacket, and the statue’s neck ends in jagged broken edges where the head should be. Above the statue is a block of text that reads “Accept No King” in bright red letters. The statue overlaps the bottom of the letters in “King.” This is painted on a panel with a carved out trench that makes the painting appear as though it is floating inside a Gothic-style frame. The frame is gold, and the trench is red to match the lettering in the painting. There is also a matching red dot in the bottom right corner of the painting that contains the artist’s signature: the name “CHAD!” with “2026” below it and a small crown above it. #Art #GalleryArt #StPeteArt #AcrylicPanting #AbolishICE An acrylic painting by Chad Jacobs that depicts a red dragon breathing fire in a green field. The dragon has yellow eyes and an off-white belly, horns and claws, spines down its back, and membranes in its wings and frills on the sides of its face. The dragon is on all fours with a smoking, charred knight’s helmet grasped in its left hand. There is a small blue rabbit that is looking up at the dragon with an expression of gratitude while hiding behind the dragon’s back leg. Above the scene is a block of text that reads “Melt Down I.C.E.” in bright blue letters. The horn on the dragon’s head that is closest to the viewer overlaps the “E” in “I.C.E.” This is painted on a panel with a carved out trench that makes the painting appear as though it is floating inside a Gothic-style frame. The frame is gold, and the trench is blue to match the lettering in the painting. There is also a matching blue dot in the bottom right corner of the painting that contains the artist’s signature: the name “CHAD!” with “2026” below it and a small flame above it. We couldn't end our Sleepaway Camp movie night without everyone doing their best Angela face (or, in @cpwcreative's case, his best Aunt Martha face), now could we? Oh no, I'm afraid that wouldn't do at all!

💍👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩 "Tanya & Marcia" 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩💍

On May 17th, 2004, Tanya McCloskey and Marcia Kadish became the first same-sex couple to be legally married in the United States after the state of Massachusetts deemed it unconstitutional to deny anyone the right to marry on the basis of sexual orientation. Kadish later said in an interview, "We wanted to lead by example, not that we were leaders of anything. We just wanted to make sure that the world saw the most positive side of being a gay couple."

In the '90s, local legend Jeff Norton wrote and performed RADIANT CHILD, a one-man show about the life of Keith Haring. It was remounted with Christopher Rutherford in 2012, who then reached out to me alongside Bob Devin Jones in 2016 to bring it back a second time.

It was a wild experience that I never expected to relive, but thanks to the urging of Anthony Gervais, I'll be performing a staged reading of it as a part of @americanstage's Fresh Ink series this Tuesday (May 27) at 6 PM at The @dalimuseum! I hope you'll join us for this beautiful celebration of art and the legacies of both Haring and Norton, two tremendous talents who were taken from us far too soon. ❤️

Spending the last four weeks running around in the woods certainly had its challenges, but I couldn't have asked for a better group of people (and a puppet) to do it with. ❤️

Big thanks to everyone who came to stroll, laugh, and sing along with us on this wild adventure!
