Julia and I are excited to announce that Sadika’s Garden has returned to @knowledgenetwork and is now streaming for free, coast-to coast across Canada. Link in bio!

Sadika’s Garden is about a group of Canadians, once refugees themselves, as come together to bring a Syrian family from war-torn Raqqa to Vancouver, completing a circle of generosity. But when Sadika’s parents are left behind, and her daughter faces a life-threatening surgery, the family is torn between two worlds. Sadika’s Garden is a striking multi-generational portrait of families in search of the soil they need to plant new roots.

Co-directed with my dear friend Julia Iriarte @iriartejulia, featuring hand-painted animation by the effortlessly talented Jenn Strom @picturecutter, poster design by the wonderful @asacederholm and scored by the amazing Mark Lazeski @marklazeskimusic and an endless list of so many generous, creative and dedicated people. We love you all.

And thank you to @knowledgenetwork, @storyhive and @cbcgem for supporting independent documentary.

Give it a watch and share it with someone who you think would appreciate it 🌱

An appreciation post for this kid of mine, who has grown up through years that slip past like dreams, in fits and starts of slow motion and fast forward, always making music, always considering the size of his footprint and who has also turned into one of the coolest people I know. I could go on an on about him (if you know me, you know this) but for his sake, I’ll dial it back today. What an amazing journey it continues to be… taken in Vancouver, British Columbia by @chadgalloway
