POSTS STORIES REELS

This milestone is deeply personal for me—one that many, including my parents and teachers, once thought was out of reach, considering my high school average was 53.2. 🥴

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been accepted into York University Bachelor of Education program this fall. I’m on my way to becoming a high school teacher, and I couldn’t be more excited.🎉🥂

Reflecting on this achievement, I’ve realized something important: Don’t set limits or rule anything—or anyone out. You can be one thing today and another tomorrow. You weren’t born to do just one thing, you can do and become anything!

Young people, Don’t succumb to societal norms and expectations. You don’t have to follow the same path or timeline as everyone else. I’m 18 years removed from high school and just now pursuing post-secondary education—after building four successful businesses, getting married, and raising three boys. My time is now, your time is your time.⏳️

Parents, educators, and those who guide our youth, Each child is unique. Don’t set unrealistic expectations or undermine career choices just because they don’t sound prestigious. No skill or job is more important than another. Teach resilience, respect, and a strong work ethic to our kids. These values will be more instrumental than thier education!

I’m committed to setting an example for my community. I want the Students we serve at BartleySkills Development Program to always strive for more and always give back.

The service professionals we help through @chairlinks, your profession is not a dead-end, the possibilities are endless!💈✂️

Finally, to those who feel stuck, lost, or confused—remember, it happens. This is life. Life is opportunity mixed with challenges. Take it as it comes. Your moment of clarity will come through perseverance. Keep going!

Pt3of3- This would’ve been impossible without you. You make life complete. Watching you run your business raise your boys all while getting a degree is admirable! I Love you to the core of my existence… can’t wait to start our next adventure!

Pt 2 of 3

Mission accomplished- 🎓
But the top of this mountain is the bottom of the next. 💡

Before we start that climb though, I wanna rest an reflect, acknowledge the pain and adversity I had to overcome to get here. In hopes it inspires someone to pursue, regardless of the circumstances.

I literally thought this was impossible

Coming from Jamaica they put me in ESL, and put me back a grade, that buried me in doubt and honestly made me lose a lot of self confidence, happens when someone labels you as “slow”, I relied on humour and athleticism to get through some tough school days.

Report card and parent teacher interviews was hell on earth- my parents sent me to school with a “get yuh education” mandate, and I brought home Needs improvements and D’s.

Suspended countless times and being sent to the “responsibility room” daily, mostly for foolishness. The system did everything in its power to break me, to make me quit and drop out.

Teenage years was wild - living in my car and couch surfing trying to figure this life out, in the streets doing street things with street kids, lonely nights and close calls, it all came to ahead when I stared down the barrel of a g*n, I got robbed. I had planted myself in the wrong environment and almost paid the ultimate price.

That was my wake up call, moments from death can do that, I took time and confronted myself, I had to be honest with me, acknowledge this was my own doing… I had to decide if I was going to use my life circumstances as an excuse- and become a statistic? Or if I was going to rise above.

Those days taught me lessons -built my character, and created this insatiable desire to learn grow, problem solve and teach. Before this degree, I got my PHD in life, it serves me well navigating today’s ambiguous society.

This latest climb isn’t about me though, it’s really about the lives I’m about to pollinate, the students who may be in similar situations and looking for the light at the end of the tunnel, it’s amazing how pain turns into purpose - and the beauty that comes from that.

Grateful for the people pulling and pushing me, my tribe - my kids - my wife…

great segue into part 3….

Half the time I don’t know what I’m doing
