Breakfast with a view in the pasture home new build. The placement of this house was strategic and involved a retaining wall and some careful planning. Rather than placing the entire home down in the pasture, we wanted to give the view through the oaks from the kitchen/dining areas. I remember this as one of our first discussions and seeing these images feels a dream come true! 🌳 🫶🏼 taken in Buffalo Gap, Texas by @chadzellner

The overlap between indoors and out ✨

From the construction plan phase all the way through the decoration phase, we considered how the colors, textures, materials, and overall design story would carry from the interior into the outdoor living spaces.

I love when a home feels connected in that way — not like separate rooms or separate moments, but one holistic experience.

I love the light in this room. It just gets me.

Technically the laundry room, but we designed it to do so much more. It functions as a second kitchen, mudroom storage, craft space, and one of those hardworking rooms that makes the rest of the house work better.

And just like that it became one of my favorite rooms in a really beautiful house.

I care a lot about how a home feels, but I probably care just as much about how it functions. I love drawing the plan, thinking through how a family will actually use a space, and making every inch feel intentional.

Beautiful, thoughtful, tailored — but still comfortable enough to really live in.

That’s always the goal.

Architecture shapes environments that inspire curiosity, engagement, and discovery, and it is a significant part of hands-on education not only in the classroom but also in the adventures beyond.

The community of Abilene recently celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for the largest expansion in the zoo’s history. “A Bold New Adventure” will include new animal habitats, immersive experiences, and interactive spaces for elevated learning experiences.

This project also sparks unique interest in the architecture profession. Unlike traditional buildings typically associated with architecture, a zoo blends creativity, storytelling, and hands-on experiences, transforming abstract concepts into tangible environments filled with a child-like curiosity of animals and their habitats, while creating memorable experiences.
