This Valentine’s Day, join hearts with us and celebrate together on the theme of ‘River in My Body’, curated by Kalm Village co-founder and creative director “Sai” Rojanapirom @achariyar

Come to Kalm Village to experience a live music performance by Tokyo-born Ainu Japanese artist Elle Shimada 嶋田会希 @elleshimada and Thai-Australian artist Kim Suree Williamson, accompanied by traditional Thai dancer @nui.power.yoga

At its heart, Kalm Village is an architectural and cultural experiment that celebrates the duality of tradition and modernity in Thai and broader Asian design. It is a place that does not attempt to replicate the past in a literal sense, nor does it discard it in pursuit of contemporary expression. Kalm Village is a fusion of cultures, ideas, and wisdoms passed down across borders and generations.

CHALANT’s very first Chiang Mai chapter features Hmong textile art on Japanese garments and draws on the historic Kalm Village textile archives.

Following a fieldtrip by the artists to Hmong village Pha Chang Noi in Phayao province, Hmong textile artist community กลุ่มผ้าเขียนเทียนบ้านสิบสองพัฒนา have created collaborative textile artworks, directed by lead artist Daorueng Sae Yang. The collective works with batik indigo dyeing and traditional embroidered motifs and are longtime collaborators of Kalm Village.

The event also features art film projections shot at Phayao lake by Chiang Mai-based @pordee.studio.official

Channeling the uniting power of music, community and culture, CHALANT X KALM – Chapter Three invites you to a dance floor ritual that is inclusive, honest, and raw – a space of warm connection, inspired by cross-cultural dialogue, and most importantly, our precious collective joy.

In our first Tokyo chapter, the birthplace of our creative director Elle Shimada - a producer, violinist and artist – who also release her second album Lullaby For The River In My Body [水声] on the night, we invite a queendom of the city’s most forward-thinking cultural leaders.

The lineup is composed of Tokyo’s finest live-electronic acts and selectors, each pushing culture forward through their unique sounds and cultural impacts in their own right.

We kick off the evening with a panel discussion at 7pm, highlighting and exploring the femme-led subcultures of Tokyo’s underground music scenes, followed by high-energy dance music till dawn.

Channeling the uniting power of music and community, CHALANT || Tokyo Chapter invites you to a dance-floor ritual that is inclusive, honest, and raw – a space of warm connection, progressive dialogues, and most importantly, our collective joy.
