Revisiting my side quest event! Honestly I’m happy with how I competed even though it wasn’t the result I wanted. I was having a lot of trouble with my approach from steps 6-8 just because I haven’t ran an 8-step in over a month. I also had some trouble finding/touching the board in some of my jumps but despite that we still had a PR! Very grateful to be ending my long jump training on a good note because I’ve had such a love/hate relationship with it. Thanks long jump, you’ve been good to me this season šŸ«¶šŸ½

What a crazy past couple of months.

If you had told my fall quarter self everything that was going to happen this school year, she never would have believed you. From battling injuries, to missing indoor season, to my father unexpectedly passing away, to qualifying for Nationals and getting accepted into my master’s program, all in the span of one school year.

Since April 19th, there were so many mornings where I woke up hoping everything had just been a nightmare. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. My dad, who I just saw and was healthy in February, was suddenly gone. I was angry because I didn’t understand why or how something like that could happen, or where everything went wrong. Getting out of bed felt impossible some days, and it hurt even more when the world kept moving while my own felt like it had stopped.

How was I supposed to move on when one of the people who helped create me was no longer here, and I had no way to prepare for it?

I couldn’t have made it through this year without my family, especially my mom and sister, my teammates, coaches, and friends who showed up for me when I needed them most. Losing my dad was the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced, but it taught me that life is too short to live with regrets. It also showed me the difference between unconditional love and transactional support, and I’m grateful for the people who continued to stand by me no matter what.

To everyone who gave me grace, support, and kindness during this season of my life, thank you. And above all, thank you God for giving me the strength to keep going when I didn’t think I could.

Here’s to my dad, and to carrying everything he taught me forward.šŸ’šŸ¤ by @challkkk
