Growing up in the islands, the only chicken soup I knew was bone-in chicken soup.
And we eat it with finadeni — Chamorro sauce — or sometimes we add Tabasco or Hot pepper (donne) right into the soup.
Then I came to the States and realized when people said “chicken soup,” they meant chicken noodle soup... with no bones.
I remember thinking, “man, this AINT chicken soup, without the bones! How do you eat this?!?! “😂😂🤣🤣

To this day, I’m still not used to chicken noodle soup.

And my kids? They grew up knowing chicken soup the island way 🌴— bone-in chicken, with finadeni (Chamorro sauce), rice or fa’i (Samoan boiled green bananas).

When you’re away from the islands, sometimes all it takes is a plate of island food to take you back home🌴🩷

It takes a village to make a dream come to life. 🌺❤️

Looking back at these moments at Polynesian days this past weekend, we’re just so grateful.

To our Chamorro and Samoan family 🇲🇵🇼🇸— thank you for showing up, helping, encouraging us, and being part of this journey. Having our family together, working side by side, serving people, laughing-even through moments of chaos- and making memories is something I’ll never take for granted.

And to everyone who came out and supported ChaMoan Grill — THANK YOU. Si Yu’us Ma’ase and Fa’afetai Lava❤️ Whether you bought a plate, stopped by to say hello, shared our post, or simply cheered us on, your support means so much to our familia/Aiga.

And there’s a special little piece of our family in the music of this video. 🎶❤️ Cousin from our Samoan side Eugene Wolfgramm HUNT on the drums with The Jets. He has since passed on, and it was really special hearing it while we were creating these memories with our family. 🕊️
