Every full out has a purpose.

Sometimes I’m watching timing.
Sometimes it’s performance quality.
Sometimes it’s the tiny details no one else notices.

This run, I was focused on musicality.

I’m watching who’s listening.
Who notices when the music breathes.
Who hears the texture change.
Who catches the tiny accent without me pointing to it.
Who understands that not every count should feel the same.

Because choreography isn’t just about learning steps.

It’s learning HOW to listen.

The music tells you what to do, long before I ever have to.

I hope this inspires you to think about the details of the musicality WHILE you’re learning your next piece of choreography 🫶

I’ve always felt like counts and musicality go hand in hand. It’s not just about knowing when to move, but understanding HOW the movement lives inside the music.

The way I count a phrase tells you more about how I want it to feel than the actual numbers do.

A little glimpse into my choreographer brain 🫶🏼

Loved my time @j.dineenarts 💕💕💕 thank you for letting me do what I love!!!!

Something I have been talking about in my classes lately > HOW a movement finishes

Think about it. You can hit the exact same musical accent, but HOW that moment finishes can completely change how we experience it.

A sharp stop can make a sound feel more percussive. A gradual release can make it feel like the sound is lingering. And sometimes, allowing the movement to continue creates a connection to the next layer of music.

Same movement. Same sound. Different finish.

It’s such a small detail, but it can completely change the way a phrase feels. 🤍

Style really does live in the details.

The way you initiate a movement. The timing you choose. Where you place your weight. How you use your focus. The textures you explore. The way one movement connects to the next.

It’s not always about adding more movement or making bigger choices.

Sometimes it’s about finding more possibilities within what’s already there.

The choreography gives you the framework. What you do within it is where your artistry starts to show. 🤍
