We reached out to @kimknausforsb and simply asked for help.

She answered the call, brought in @dna_sanbernardino and @wearethechangesb and the rest is history.

Today, I stood back and cried like a baby as I watched @bbbelle1 lead people into giving their time, energy and love to a garden that belongs to all of us.

Some came with tools. Some came ready to work. Everyone came with a heart for the community.

That may sound small to some people, but to us, it meant everything.

The @uptownsanbernardinourbangarden has survived because people continue to show up. Every weed pulled, every shovel of mulch moved and every garden bed restored was a reminder that we are not alone.

This is what community is all about: one person reaches out, another person answers, and together we create something bigger than any of us could have built alone.

Thank you, Kim. Thank you, DNA & We Are the Change. And thank you to each and every person who joined us today to help beautify the Uptown San Bernardino Urban Garden.

Please stay connected. We’re just getting started. 💚🌱

WOW! 🤯

Repost from @corybooker : (I believe in people getting rich in America. Hard work should mean a real chance to build wealth and get ahead. But wealth inequality has gotten out of control. When Americans were asked to slice a pumpkin pie the way they thought $98 trillion in household wealth was shared, their answers were far more equal than reality. The richest 20% hold about 90% of the pie. The bottom 20% hold nothing—and are thousands of dollars in debt.

As we prepare for our #freshearthfridays at the @uptownsanbernardinourbangarden

We came across this song by @stromae 🎶 and it hits different when you understand the lyrics… and look at what’s happening around the world. 🌍

Everything feels upside down. Bills keep coming, people are hurting, families are struggling, and so many of us are carrying more than we ever say out loud from the terror of ICE and so much more.

Stromae’s “Alors on danse” speaks to that weight. And yet… so we dance 🕺🏽💃🏽

Because sometimes we need a moment to breathe. To move. To feel something besides the pressure. To remember there’s still joy in us.

That’s the power of music. Across languages, cultures, and borders, it can bring us together and give us a little peace in these trying times. One rhythm can remind us how much we share.

This is why we believe in @musicchanginglives we’ve seen what happens when people get the chance to create, connect, and let their souls speak.

The world is heavy right now. Let’s keep making room for each other, for peace, and for joy.

And so we dance. 🎶✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻✊✊🏿❤️☮️

Boyyyyy, how time flies! Around 2016, @supervisorjosemedina sent me on a mission to find a gentleman by the name of @conrad_heal_ton

A few years later, 10/31/2018, to be exact I found Mr. Crump. 😂 we produced a few jingles for the Endowment and wrote my first LOI to @calendow on behalf of @musicchanginglives

And those dreams we’d been writing on napkins over the years?

Im honored to hare we’ve brought them all to life, and then some.

Taking a moment to pause and celebrate the Endowment’s 30th anniversary had me in my feelings. To have been part of something this dynamic, and to see how far we’ve come… beyond humbling. 🙏🏾

Because of your support, we’ve been able to grow programs like @empowermenttopolicy and @uptownsanbernardinourbangarden proving that when our communities have the proper funding and resources, we can change our own narrative.

So to the kiddos reading this: your ideas matter.

Even the ones scribbled on a napkin. Keep dreaming, keep building, and #stayloud

Together, #weareourancestorswildestdreams ✊🏾❤️ by @changinglivesassociation

@eyeswideopenchurch thank you for sowing a seed into our Food for the People ministry. ❤️🙏🏾

You’ve shown up with volunteers, helping hands, and now a financial contribution, all while building your own foundation.

To make room for our community’s needs while working toward your own dreams is something I deeply honor.

Thank you for believing in this work and the families we serve. Your generosity helps us keep food on tables and reminds us we don’t have to carry this mission alone.

We look forward to what we’ll grow together, with all of us included.

With love and gratitude,
@jbruny & the @musicchanginglives family

@musicchanginglives name may be on the award, but every volunteer’s hands are on the work. ❤️

@eyeswideopenchurch will be honoring us at their first anniversary celebration, and we’re grateful.

But we can’t accept this recognition without thanking the people who make #FoodForThePeople possible.

The ones unloading boxes, sorting produce, making deliveries, and staying until the last family is served.

You give your time and your strength because you believe our neighbors deserve to eat.

At #musicchanginglives we get to see what you pour into this work. Please know we don’t take any of it for granted.

This honor belongs to you, too.

Thank you, Eyes Wide Open Church, for recognizing our community’s love in action.

Happy first anniversary! 🙏🏾

❤️ Come celebrate with us tonight as Eyes Wide Open Christian Church honors our work at their 1st Anniversary & Birthday Celebration!

We’d love to have our volunteers, families, and supporters there to share this moment.

🕕 6–10 PM
📍 La Sierra Senior Center

Some come to plant. Some come to help. Somewhere along the way, we become family. 🌱💚

To the families and friends who keep the @uptownsanbernardinourbangarden thriving, thank you. Every seed planted, weed pulled, and hour shared helps us grow food and take care of one another.

We’ve got room for you, too. Join forces with us, volunteer, or sponsor a plot and help keep this garden growing for our community. No experience needed. We’ll learn together.

🗓 Every Friday, 9 AM–1 PM
📍 261 W. 40th Street, San Bernardino

Once you’re familiar with the garden and how things work, you can set your own volunteer hours.

Come get your hands in the soil and leave knowing you helped something grow. 🥬

DM us to get involved or click the link in our bio to sponsor a plot.

He’s not mad.

He’s working long hours fighting his own mind dealing with systemic oppression, and the rising cost of everything.

He doesn’t let it make him resentful, he maintains his posture as a Negus.

He stands firm in the face of what’s trying to destroy him.

Despite it all he persists.

Despite it all he continues to uplift the people and fight for liberation all while building nationally award winning programs. All while being underfunded, under appreciated and gaslight.

Despite it all he continues to fortify communities and restore dignity to the oppressed.
