Chantz Henry, J.D.

At my sister’s funeral Pastor Cherry(Chicago legend iykyk) said that something isn’t considered a loss when you know where it’s at. I was front row, center, trying to hear him out but just couldn’t at the time. The senseless way I lost D, I still get a blank stare about it. I’m sure Shell does too.

I stepped into law school a few weeks later. Im from the southside of Chicago, auburn gresham trenches. This was just another time I had to just chin up and persevere. I knew law school would require a lot. But what I didn’t know was how much of a transformation I’d have in becoming a lawyer. I couldn’t keep track of the amount of support and inspiration I gained along the way. S/o my brothers in law at @bmlaorg. You all showed me what that 5% is all about, and I’ll always pay that forward.

I’ve always just been an extension of my support system; family, friends, mentors, big role or small, thank you. Tabitha H and Kyla H, we all know this Juris Doctor degree doesn’t happen without you both. Thank you for pouring into and seeing it through with me. None of this journey was linear and yeah I took some losses along the way but I know exactly where they’re at. So I guess Pastor Cherry was right, no losses considered there. Your boy is officially a Lawyer. Wish me luck on the bar exam in DC🏁 by @chantzh_

Started those 10,000 hours this summer. Super thank you to the Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, my ASA’s in the Gun Crimes Unit, and Judge Watkins for just allowing me to craft w/ them these last 3 months. Confirmed a lot with myself and how I want to contribute in this world full time. Next stop, D.C. by @chantzh_
