Rating - 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

💁 My take - I would say, it's a cute book, until you find its actually not! The plot will do its job to keep you hooked till the end. The narrator; a soft hearted man describes everything he and his family went through in a very lucid way. You can feel so much is happening yet there is something fishy that you can't figure out. Tension built through chapters is mind blowing. Even the cover has a meaning!! Shanbhag's writing will make you feel uncomfortable and unsettled for quite some time.

Book Review Time 🧑‍🏫

You Only Live Once - by Stuti Changle @stutichangle

My rating - 3.0/5 🌟🌟🌟

Summary - Alara, Aarav and Ricky find their way to each other while dealing with their own life. Together they take a journey to seek the truth behind the famous singer Elisha's disappearance somewhere by the deep sea in Goa

My review 💁 This is a light, cozy book which gives you some amazing perspective about life, overcoming fears and dealing with separation/death. While the characters had their own struggles and yet stood by each other through everything.

It's quite enlightening for me to read how one person can impact the life of three people entirely differently. Even after their death, we carry that very version with ourselves. We carry the warmth they have shown us, or the love we have for them, or worse the bitterness we had with them 💕

Personally, I was rooting for Alara the entire time and genuinely hoped she’d find what her heart was searching for 💔

But I did feel it slowed down a bit in the middle and repetition of similar life lessons was happening for a long time 😐‼️

Still, it's a good book if you are looking for something light yet thought provoking ✨

Honestly, I thought it was another rom-com book with little references to PhD or science. 🙂‍↔️

My rating - 3/5 🌟🌟🌟

Plot - Considering the hype of the book, I think most of us know the plot 💁!!

My Thoughts 🤔💭 - Even though the book have some heartbreaking moments like the death of someone I never anticipated and reveal of someone's past. It let me down big time!! So I'm trying to break it down without giving spoilers 💢

1) Roya and Zari's bond had potential and I hoped till the end that it would be given more depth 🥀

2) Why did the plot entirely revolve around Bahman's mother decisions ? There could have been more to it surely.

3) I loved Walter!! Even that character has soo much potential 🥲🤌

4) And lastly, why did Roya's entire self was about loving Bahman???

Book Review Time 🧑‍🏫

My rating - 3.8/5 🌟

Summary - Ahalya, created by Bharhma himself and married to the greatest rishi Gautam, was cursed to turn into a stone by none other than her husband himself. But how did she end up in such a devastating fate? What were her struggles, turmoil and thoughts?

These questions are often not answered in scriptures, and thus the author writes this book from Ahalya's perspective. Dasgupta's poetic writing very well holds the mystical energy of the book. We can understand how Ahalya was created, how she came to this land of suffering, her connection with nature, how she explores mankind, her marriage with a saint, and finally what led her to the cursed fate.

My perspective 💁 - I started it with high hopes, not due to reviews but due to its awesome intro chapters! I mean, I'm reading how Bharmah is creating a human! And the soul of that very human is bonding with mist! (How cool is that!). But it felt slowish towards the middle and rushed at the end. I sooo wanted to read more about Ahalya's overall journey and her connection with spirituality. A huge let down for me was how the plot revolved around only the physical aspect of human beings and Ahalya's marriage!!

Nevertheless, if you want to read a mythological fiction with a mystical vibe, and yet feel strong feminine power at the end; GO FOR IT!🤌
