This summer, Ystad will be infused with lime, spice, and history. Starting June 22, the Mexican pop-up restaurant Chapas will open its doors – a concept already being hailed as the flavor explosion of the season.

Behind this culinary fiesta is none other than Pablo Chapa, a legend in both the kitchen and in charisma. But this year, Pablo is passing the torch to the next generation: Anders, Amanda, and Louise – the grandchildren who grew up on abuelito’s secret recipes, tequila, and the promise that every day is worth celebrating. And that’s exactly what Chapas is all about – celebrating life, every day.

“Grandpa used to say: ‘If you’ve got food, music, and people – then you’ve got a reason to dance.’” – Anders

Chapas will be open Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays – days that usually are quiet in Ystad. But not this summer. This time it’s all about good vibes, ice-cold margaritas, and soulful tacos – from early day until midnight. Because why wait until the weekend when you can party on a Monday?

⸻

This is Chapas:

🌮 A flavorful journey to Mexico, right in the heart of Ystad
🍹 Bold drinks with spice, color, and heart
🎶 An atmosphere where every day feels like a spontaneous festival
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 A family project built on love, tradition, and a pinch of 🌶️

⸻

So bring your friends, your neighbors, and your curiosity – and get ready for a summer where Ystad gets its very own Mexico.

Look, if you had one shot, one opportunity
To dance at Chapas one last time
Would you capture it, or just let it slip?

The music’s loud, the lights are bright,
This is the final night.
No second chances, no rewind —
After tonight, it’s gone.

You better lose yourself in the music, the moment,
You own it, you better never let it go.
One night — this opportunity comes once in a lifetime.

Chapas - one last dance.

Before Chapas was a restaurant,
before the tacos and the salsa,
there was one thing:
rhythm.

A soft sound in the cornfields.
A little shake in the wind.
That sound became something special —
the maracas.

They weren’t just made —
they appeared,
like magic,
like a gift from the food gods.

When the maracas shake, it’s not just noise.
It’s a message.
It tells us what to cook,
when to spice,
who needs a mezcal —
even if they don’t know it yet.

At Chapas, the maracas are not just instruments.
They are our heart.
Our guide.
Our spirit.

Every shake is a part of our story.
And when you hear them…
you’re not just a guest anymore.

You’re part of the family.
Part of the rhythm.
Part of the magic.

🌶️ And now… the maracas are shaking louder.
Because Chapas is open for only 5 more nights.
After that, the temple closes.
The tacos rest.
The rhythm sleeps.

So come now.
Feel the fire.
Hear the maracas.
Be part of the last dance.

Welcome to Chapas.
Where tacos are sacred.
And maracas lead the way.
❤️‍🔥

LA PAPASITO – A Taste of Legend from Pablo’s Childhood - 🌶️! ONLY TONIGHT !🌶️

Born in the sun-drenched hills of northern Mexico, where the air carries the scent of grilled meat and whispered stories from the past, La Papasito is no ordinary dish. It’s a tribute to Pablo’s childhood—where his abuela cooked over open flames, and flavor was a way of life.

At the heart of La Papasito is tender, perfectly grilled Pluma—a premium cut of Iberian pork—coated in a smoky chipotle and mango glaze. The sweet, tropical notes of mango fuse with the deep heat of smoked chipotle, creating a bold, unforgettable contrast. It’s served on a warm, lightly charred tortilla and topped with vibrant, herb-packed chimichurri that bursts with freshness, citrus, and just the right kick.

This isn’t just food. It’s a story on a plate. A legend reborn. A fiery memory brought back to life.

La Papasito. Only for tonight.

Available in limited quantities. For those brave enough to taste the myth. taken in Ystad by @chapaspopup

Right now, the kitchen smells amazing. Pots and bowls are full of secret ingredients.

This is because Juicy Juan is being prepared — the dish many of you dreaming about

The meat is resting in a rich, juicy marinade, soaking up flavors that are spicy, sweet, and incredibly tasty.

On Sunday, the party will begin once again. For three days, people will enjoy Juicy Juan, bite after bite, dipping and eating while laughing together.

Until then, everyone has to wait. But Pablo knows:

Good things take time. And Juicy Juan is worth it.

See you this weekend❤️‍🔥 taken in Chapas by @chapaspopup

Once upon a time, there were three wise friends named Enrique, Lolita and Pancho. Even though they were wise, they were full of energy and loved spending time together at Chapas—a place filled with delicious food, music, and laughter.

At Chapas, the sun shined over the white tables, and the air smelled of grilled meat, melted cheese, and fresh tortillas. Music played in the background, and people couldn’t help but stamped their feet’s.

Enrique, the first wise friend, loved telling clever riddles and witty jokes. Everyone around him laughed and enjoyed trying to solve his puzzles.

Lolita, the second wise friend, had a special talent for discovering the tastiest dishes on the menu. “You have to try this!” she would say with shining eyes, and soon the table would be covered with tacos, dips, and plates to share.

Pancho, the third wise friend, made sure no one stayed thirsty for long. With a friendly smile and drinks in both hands, he always arrived at just the right moment. He also started games, fun challenges, and spontaneous dancing that got all of Chapas buzzing with excitement.

Time always flew by when the three wise friends were together. There was no stress, only laughter, good food, and raised glasses. And every time they left Chapas, a little tired but very happy, they knew one important thing.

The best part of life isn’t just being wise—it’s having fun together- at Chapas. taken in Chapas by @chapaspopup

What. A. First. Weekend.
We’re still sweaty, emotional – and totally in love with every single one of you who showed up for us and turned Chapas into a fiesta.

Let’s talk about the real stars:
Costa Verde? People were practically licking the plates.
Juicy Juan? So juicy that people started fighting with each other to get it. 💀
El Chorizon? Nachos with melty chorizo goodness – disappeared faster than a tequila shot on a Tuesday night.

And in between bites – the laughs, the photo sessions with sombreros, and some of you even danced to the rhythm of our amazing music.

We thought we were opening a pop up restaurant. Turns out, we opened a House of vibes. And you were in the heart of it❤️‍🔥

GRACIAS for making our first weekend unforgettable. We’re reloading with more Juicy Juans, extra napkins, and a LOT of love.

See you soon, amigas & amigos🌵

Dear Diary,

It’s evening now. My hands still smell like chipotle and Lime. My shoes are covered in Tajin, and I think I forgot to eat dinner – again. But my heart? Fuller than ever.

Three days.
Over 400 portions of food.
Hundreds of smiles, full bellies, sunglasses, and “La Bamba” echoing through Stora Östergatan. I can hardly believe it – Chapas, my little idea born in a kitchen with too much garlic and too many big dreams, has become something people actually line up for.

Today, I saw a little boy eat his first churros. He had sugar all over his face and smiled like he’d just discovered the meaning of life. An older lady danced a little while sipping our Sol De Coco – wearing a sombrero and humming a Bad Bunny verse. I nearly teared up.

People came for the food & drinks, stayed for the vibes, and left with something more than just a full stomach. They were happy. Truly happy. And that, my friend, is something magical.

I’m tired. The kind of tired that feels like a proof that you’re doing something right. On Sunday we go again. More tacos. More churros. More Margaritas. More songs in the sunset.

Thank you, Chapas.
Thank you to everyone who came.
This is just the beginning.

Hasta mañana🌶️

Pablo’s moustache is sharp, the Coronas are colder than your ex’s heart, 70 kilos of lime have been sacrificed in the name of flavour, and the tortillas are shaking!

It smells like cilantro, heat, and full-blown salsapocalypse.

We think we’re ready…
But are you ready to face the spice, the sweat, and the salt-rimmed glory from heaven?

💥 Welcome to Chapas – where Sundays get spicy, hearts beat in 4/4, and no taco is left untouched.

⏰ Doors open at 11:30 SUNDAY– come hungry & thirsty!

Who’s coming?🌶️
