What a meaningful afternoon celebrating journalism, connection, and legacy! 🎤📰

I had the incredible opportunity to network with fellow journalists and connect with industry professionals as a sports journalist and member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).

Today’s celebration highlighted an extraordinary 50-year milestone between Texas Southern University and NABJ. The afternoon featured a powerful roundtable discussion with members of TSU’s School of Communication and NABJ, creating space for conversation, reflection, mentorship, and the continued advancement of Black journalists.

But the highlight of the day was personal. ❤️

The best part was being in the same room with my son, who is also a journalism major. To share a space dedicated to journalism, storytelling, and the next generation with him made this milestone even more special.

Legacy. Journalism. Representation. And a full-circle moment I’ll always cherish.

Dear Madam President,

Aloha!

You have personified, both on and off the court, what GRACE looks like.

Your TENACITY and LEADERSHIP in corporate spaces have changed the lives of past, present, and future players. Your SKILLS and TALENT on the court won games, created history, and forged dreams for every little girl who needed to see that it can be done.

And then there is your SMILE and KINDNESS. When we met, they spoke volumes before you ever spoke a word. That kind of presence is rare, and it leaves an imprint.

You changed the game. Not simply by what you accomplished, but by how you carried yourself while doing it. I, along with so many others, am forever grateful for your contributions to basketball, to women in sports, and to the generations coming behind you.

As you step boldly into your NOW & NEXT, I pray that God continues to surround you with His favor, wisdom, grace, and divine opportunities. May every door He opens be greater than the one before, and may your influence continue to extend far beyond the court.

Mahalo Nui Loa, Gregory Jones, for honoring women making an impact locally and internationally. I’m grateful to be recognized among so many phenomenal women.

I never serve for accolades or applause, but to point people to God and remain faithful to the assignment He has given me.

Thank you for honoring my work as a Sports Chaplain. To every athlete, parent, spouse, and family I’ve had the privilege to serve, this is my why.

Congratulations, Bishop T.D. Jakes, on 50 extraordinary years of faithful service to the Kingdom!

It is difficult to fully express the depth of my gratitude for the profound impact your life, leadership, and ministry have had on mine. Your guidance, tutelage, wisdom, and example have helped shape how I think, lead, serve, and walk boldly in my own calling. The lessons you have taught, the words you have spoken, and the wisdom you have shared have remained with me and strengthened me in seasons when I needed them most.

I am deeply grateful that you answered God’s call and faithfully said yes to the mantle He placed upon your life. Your obedience has opened doors and created pathways for so many of us to learn, grow, be stretched, and discover greater possibilities within our own lives and assignments.

Thank you for what you have poured into me not only through your words, but through the testimony of your life. I do not take your influence, investment, sacrifice, or example for granted. Your faithfulness has been a gift, and I am profoundly grateful to have been impacted by your yes.

Today, I honor you not only for 50 remarkable years of Kingdom service, but for the personal imprint your life and legacy have left on mine. I celebrate you, I honor you, and I thank God for the privilege of being among the many lives transformed by your obedience.
