The Norte Fire has burned 465 acres in southern Orange County, placing at least 16,000 residents under evacuation orders.
The fire started just after 11:30 a.m. on Friday near Portico Del Norte in San Clemente before quickly spreading into San Juan Capistrano.
Evacuation shelters are available for displaced residents at the following locations:

San Juan Capistrano Community Center 25925 Camino del Avion, San Juan Capistrano

San Clemente Community Center 100 Calle Seville, San Clemente

🏠 Cal State Fullerton is expanding its on-campus housing as student enrollment continues to rise.
The university’s newest residence hall, Jewel Plummer Cobb Hall, adds 510 beds, bringing the total on-campus housing capacity to approximately 2,600. But with around 46,000 students enrolled, housing remains a challenge.
The university is also offering a 20% housing discount to eligible students.

We asked crews along the shoreline of iconic surf spot, ‘The Wedge, what they were working on. One crew member said they’re widening the beach to make room for vehicles and dump trucks that will bring in sand as Newport Beach responds to this erosion.

The city plans to pull sand from the Santa Ana River as part of an emergency response to erosion.
Recently at the Wedge, century-old wood pickings, metal, and pipes were exposed under the sand.
