Two of you sent work through the door this week, and both of them stopped us in our tracks. Swipe across.

First, a Sanctuary Hills survivor out of the Fallout Wasteland Warfare heroes box. Look at the red scarf and the sunburnt skin set against all that scavenged plate, and the tufts worked into a cracked concrete base so the whole thing reads as a place and not just a model. That one is by Levithian Dahlin, who paints a great deal of Fallout and puts it up on YouTube under the same name. Well worth a look.

Second, a Super Mutant Behemoth, mottled green over blue with a fire hydrant on a pipe for a club. The chains and the bruised, wet flesh tones are doing a lot of work there, and the bench behind it tells you exactly how it happened.

Thank you both for sending these over. Watching a box leave the hall as bare resin and come back looking like this is the best part of the job.

If you have painted something you bought from us, send us a picture. We will keep putting them up. Keep them coming.

There is a workshop under Cryx where nothing is ever wasted, and Mortenebra keeps the ledger.

Mortenebra, Perfected is a warcaster for the Cryx Necrofactorium, rebuilt into something colder and far more exact than the woman who went in. She reads a battlefield the way a machinist reads a tolerance. Blade Feathers drag fliers down out of the air. Tail Strike answers a careless step. And when one of her machines is finally wrecked, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle sets it back on the table, so a jack heavy list keeps grinding forward long after it ought to have stopped.

One warcaster, and every inch of her rewards a slow evening at the bench. Black plate, brass filigree, that sour green glow down in the vents. Glaze the necrotite light so it looks like it is coming out of her rather than sitting on top of her, and keep the bone chalky and dry against all that oiled metal.

Supplied unassembled and unpainted, as all the good ones are.

Made to order at the hall. Say the word and it goes on the bench.

Something very large has come up out of the warm deep, and it is not in a hurry.

The Abyssal King is a gargantuan troll of the Southern Kriels, native to the ocean off the coast of Alchiere and lately in the habit of wading ashore behind the Brineblood Marauders. It fights with fists and tentacles, takes a ship's bowsprit for a spear, and throws whatever jetsam the tide has left lying about.

Four hard points on the kit, so the thing you build is yours: a choice of head, a ship's figurehead, and a pair of tentacle weapons. One head fixes a man where he stands. The other simply inspires awe, and awe spoils a man's aim as surely as a wound does.

A gargantuan on a wide base, which means a long evening with the clippers and a longer one with the brushes. Barnacles, wet weed, salt bloom on the iron. Paint the water line and the whole model tells you where it has been.

Supplied unassembled and unpainted, as all the good ones are.

Made to order at the hall. Say the word and it goes on the bench.

One chassis, three machines, and an argument to be had before the glue comes out.

The Crucible Guard light warjack is drawn off the Vanguard line, and what arrives in the crate is not one warjack so much as the makings of any of three. Build it as a Liberator with shield and flail, as a Retaliator, or as a Vanguard, with the full rules for each of them. Spare weapons and heads in the box besides, so the chassis can be pointed at whatever the day needs pointing at.

A breakout model from the Crucible Guard battlegroup, which means a generous sprue and a light jack that earns its place rather than filling a gap.

Teal and black over brass, with the alchemists at work in every pipe and valve. Paint the metal honestly and it will look like something that has spent its life in a foundry.

Supplied unassembled and unpainted, as all the good ones are.

Yesterday the Patriot went out ahead and looked. Today its stablemate stays in the trench and does the work.

The Valiant is the practical one. Blunt, brutally efficient, and built around a loadout that can be changed to suit whatever is coming down the line. If the situation turns halfway through the fight, the Gravediggers drop it a heavier weapon out of the sky and it carries on with that instead.

Another breakout from the Gravediggers battlegroup box, so the sprue arrives generous. One Valiant chassis, then a spread of arms and heads to argue over. Cannon on one side, saw on the other, or something else entirely if you would rather.

Cygnar blue over brass and steel, then weathered until the mud looks earned. Have a good long think before you glue anything, because this one rewards it.

Supplied unassembled and unpainted, as all the good ones are.

Yesterday's jack had nothing living left in it. This one comes out of the mud, and there is a crew behind it who dug the hole.

The Patriot is a Cygnar Gravediggers warjack, and its first job is not fighting. It goes out ahead of the line and looks. Reconnaissance, in a coat of trench mud. Then when the shooting starts it turns around and adds its long range guns to the Gravediggers arsenal, which is not a modest one.

It is a breakout from the Gravediggers battlegroup box, so it arrives with a spread of weapons and heads. You decide what it carries and what it looks out from under.

Cygnar blue over bone and brass, then weathered until it looks like it has been living in a trench, because it has. If you enjoy mud and chipping, this is your evening.

Supplied unassembled and unpainted, as all the good ones are.

Yesterday it was a hound off an Orgoth boat. Today it is a hound with nothing living left in it.

The Raptor is the Cryx Necrofactorium light bonejack, and it is the most obliging thing in the Nightmare Empire's stable. It comes as a pair, and the box carries a spread of heads and back sections, so you decide what each one is for. Send one out as a knife, quick over broken ground, in and gone before the line has noticed. Keep the other back as an arc node and let the warcaster do the talking through it from somewhere safer.

Bone and iron with that acid green light running through the plates. If you have ever wanted an excuse to practise glow, here it is.

It wants a handful of small disc magnets to make the swapping worth doing. Not in the box, but no trouble to find.

Supplied unassembled and unpainted, as all the good ones are.

Yesterday's jack came off the frozen northwest. This one comes off a boat, and it does not wait for the plank.

The Jackal is the Orgoth Sea Raiders light warjack, and there is a joke buried in it. It was modelled on the Immorese warjacks that once stood against the Orgoth, then filled with sacral magic and set loose on the people who invented it. Hound shaped, quick over broken ground, with a claw on the end of the arm that does slow work.

Kishtaar sends it out ahead of the line. The line arrives to find most of the argument already settled.

A good one to paint, too. Black plate and brass on a small frame, and the blue on the claws is where you get to show off.

Supplied unassembled and unpainted, as all the good ones are.

Last week the Great Bear got the job. This week the clever one gets its turn.

The Dire Wolf is the lighter, faster chassis in the Winter Korps battlegroup, and Khador did not thin the plate to get there. Same heavy armour the Motherland is known for, moving quicker than it has any right to, with a mace on the end of the arm for the arguments that speed does not settle.

Born of the frozen northwest and treated by High Kommand as a prized asset. On the table it plays like one: it turns up before the other side has finished deciding what to do about it.

Supplied unassembled and unpainted, as all the good ones are.

The Stryker is the hammer. The Courser is how the hammer arrives on time.

Cygnar built the Storm Legion around speed, and a light warjack is where that idea actually lives. The Courser goes where a heavy cannot get to quickly enough, opens the ground with voltage, and is moving again before anyone has worked out where the shot came from. Athena di Baro keeps it out front for exactly that reason.

Light does not mean slight. It means the one you send when the whole plan depends on your front line moving before the other side has finished forming one.

A kind first jack to paint, too. All that blue and gold on a small frame is a forgiving place to learn edge highlighting.

Supplied unassembled and unpainted, as all the good ones are.
