Y’all I made an app and put it on the App Store 📱 It’s called DNZQ and is for musicians, dancers, teachers, etc. to easily trigger/cue assignable song clips for rehearsal/practice. Basically drag in a song, set your markers and preferences, then trigger clips via main screen buttons. Supposed to be super simple and intuitive, no-fuss. For iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch (companion to iPhone app).

Really enjoying this generative ambient patch in Cardinal inspired by @sarahbellereid and Omri Cohen, both of whom I’ve seen do something similar in VCV Rack. Listening to these evolve reminds me that I am foremost a listener and enjoyer of music before a creator of it. Been obsessed with the Cardinal virtual modular synth plugin the last week or so. Definitely an amazing way to cheaply (free) investigate different approaches/sandbox ideas. Learning a ton and loving it. Here we have a simple 8-note sequence (FGAD in 2 octaves each) coming from Gord (which plays v nicely with Cardinal 👌). That sequence is then split using probability to go to one of two synths on either side. If you’re reading this you’re probably like when is he going to shut up and either make some tunes, or not? And the answer is: not sure yet but I am having a lot of fun and do feel like I am inching toward…….SOMETHING. And I have similar level of excitement and interest as when I first started playing guitar. So THAT is something ✨

Gord also has a Build function: you choose your notes in the grid, then can write your own sequence (including rests). Here’s one u may know that uses all 32 available steps. Here’s a Dorian pattern/progression I pulled into MPC from Gord. It’s playing 3 instruments, kinda a crunchy crystalline FM vibe. I like that even tho the sequences are always linear (ie no chords or simultaneous notes), they can be spread among different instruments by step (depending on subdivision, pattern mode, directionality) or by MIDI channel by octave to get a pretty full sound 👌
