Meet Becca, our tech Captain of the ship 🚢 She'll make sure there will only be smooth sailing!

Becca is an actor, lighting designer, and fight performer from Dublin. She received her MA in Acting from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in 2024 and has been training with the Victorious School of Screen & Stage Combat since 2021. She most recently worked as lighting designer at the Voila Festival in London, for Daniel Popescu's 'Off Beat' and the Etcetera Theatre in December for 'Wilder' by Dany Van Brabant & Thomas Billiouw.

This is not the first time Becca has been collaborating with CharismaCheck. It has been our absolute pleasure having her operate our run of Murder is for Other People last November. by @charismacheckinsta

Meet our next and final cast member!

Jessy Danner plays Jessy!

Jessy Danner is a writer and actor who has worked in theatre and film for the past decade. After studying classical theatre at The Royal Scottish Conservatoire and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, she completed the Two-Year Acting Degree from the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin. After graduating from UCD with a Master's degree in Theatre Practice, she has written a half dozen plays as cofounder of Charisma Check theatre company, as well as scripting multiple music and theatre pieces for festivals including Electric Picnic and Lattitude. She has worked as an actress and stuntsperson across theatre, TV, Video Games, and Film.

Last November she and Jae collaborated on the nearly sold out show Murder is for Other People and now they are back to confuse the audiences of Smockalley some more! by @charismacheckinsta

Time to meet our cast!!!!

Meet Jae O'Connor, playing Jae!

Jae is a performer and director who works in theatre, occasionally radio and telling stories with dice. They directed such self-described "hits" as Spring Awakening in Smock Alley, Antony & Cleopatra with the Dublin Shakes and Venom so Sweet at Theatre Upstairs.

Jae founded Charisma Check in 2017 with Jessy and they have been using it almost exclusively as a method of making each other laugh ever since, in the process producing a catalogue of very strange plays, like "There's Gonna Be A Shoot-Out, "Tragedy is for Tall People", "You've got it, Boss!" and "The Argument" which was about an argument. At Scene and Heard 2025, they staged “Bird Face, But It’s A Mask”, Jae’s first foray into what they call “writing a proper play”. Last November this duo brought you Murder is for Other People, which did a nearly sold out run in Smockalley Theatre. by @charismacheckinsta

We're opening tomorrow! Better quickly post these last introductions... 🫣

Robin is new to producing, but has quickly found her way in the world of theatre. Originally from a corporate background, she's organized events and projects many a time before. She has always enjoyed going to the theatre, but it was volunteering with Dublin Fringe Festival and her partner that really sparked the fascination with what happens backstage. Currently, she runs Made by Spideóg an endeavor sharing and producing creative projects of many shapes and sizes.

"Murder is for Other People" is the first full-time play she'll be bringing to the stage in collaboration with CharismaCheck. You may know her from "Combat Cabaret" which premiered in February under the wings of the Scene and Heard Festival of New Work. by @charismacheckinsta
