With all the new folks whose path has led them to find Charitable Bead Co, I wanted to take a moment to say hiiiii! 🤍

I’m Jess, and I am the one woman show behind Charitable Bead Co.

I am a Social Worker but first and foremost I am, and will always be an Artist. I love to work with natural materials and creating jewelry is something that I have been doing now for over a decade. My inspiration is drawn from as well as deeply rooted in my spirituality, sea goddesses and ancient jewelry.

Charitable Bead Co first came to life in 2020 during my time studying Social Work in Ontario, where I am originally from. When I began working full time in the field of Social Work, my business took a back seat for a couple of years. A few years ago I made some big life changes. I packed up my life and drove out to the West Coast with my bestie. I am now living on the northern side of Vancouver Island doing what I love; creating beautiful things with my hands.

When I’m not creating, I am with the ones I love, swimming in the ocean as often as possible, beach combing, thrifting, reading, cooking (this is my love language), laughing (I love to laugh), feeling it all and practicing gratitude.

One of my favorite ways to wear my handmade beaded jewelry is to layer my pieces with well loved silver chains and artisan crafted pendants.

I love how the softness and texture of natural stone beads pair effortlessly with bold silver, creating a look that feels eclectic and collected over time rather than perfectly matched.

There’s something really special about wearing pieces created by different hands. It feels like I’m carrying multiple dreams, countless hours of craftsmanship, and many creative journeys all at once.

I can remember when I first fell in love with jewelry.

I was just a little girl, obsessed with rummaging through my grandmothers incredible collection. Her jewelry wasn’t delicate or ordinary, it was bold, colorful, and full of character. Every piece felt like it held a story and a memory.

Each piece reflected her unique spirit, she loved to go out with my grandfather and look good, she loved to wear bright coloured lipstick and wear her hair in the most voluminous way. She was beautiful, she was a statement piece all on her own.

It was through her that I discovered jewelry could be so much more than an accessory. It could express who we are and carry meaning across generations.

That early obsession with my grandmothers jewelry box never left me. It became the foundation of my love for creating jewelry that feels timeless and deeply personal.
