Voting Day, a day where we proudly exercise our inalienable right to choose. Always an exciting day for me, but today, this day, felt different . Today was fraught with anxiety and concern. Today was a day to hopefully set the building blocks that we need to rebuild once again. To rebuild a country, a life, and a true sense of humanity that we are proud of. It all starts here, today, and then tomorrow, and the next day, and on and on. We are all America’s carpenters. Happy Father’s Day Dad. Thank you for giving me the gift to see the world and all its magic, all its wonder, and all its endless possibilities. Most of all, all its love that is just waiting to be given and to be shared if we only open our hearts and open our eyes. You are loved and missed every day, but are never far from me or your two adoring grandsons, my boys, who revel in the joy and the special magic that you taught us. Love you Dad. #fathersday #love #gratitude #hopeful #family #joy by @charles_fradin

Cherished moments that make up a life well lived, well loved, and well laughed. A life that, even when shadowed by the occasional hardship or drama, perseveres and overcomes with the strength of family, of friends, and the knowledge that we are not alone. tc It’s a journey I enjoy and I am grateful for every day. Thank you . #family #friends #happylife #gratefullife #welllived #love #celebratelife #livelaughlove #blessedlife by @charles_fradin

My Uncle Howie, the last surviving of my moms four siblings, passed away on Wednesday morning . He was surrounded by his wife he adored for over 59 years and his beloved children. Surrounded by love, and gratitude, respect and pride. The last in the line ended an era.
So the sadness and heartache that we feel with the passing of such a substantial and accomplished man, because Uncle Howie was truly a legendary person, is even more fraught with a profound sense of loss and an undeniable ending.
I will miss Uncle Howie’s stories and his sense of humor, but even more I will miss the connection he represented to my mom, my grandmother, the dozens of old uncles and aunts, the holidays and celebrations all spent together, and a truly wonderful and warm way of life in a world that no longer exists. Uncle Howie became the conduit to all of that for all of us. He was the unwitting torch bearer
I remember when my mom passed away a few years ago. We had finished a day of sitting Shiva, and all the visitors paying there respects had left, and just the family and cousins , some thirty of us. were sitting around having a good time being together. Uncle Howie walked into the room and said: “Okay, who wants to know what? I’m here to tell you whatever you want, so take advantage of it.”
With that he told us stories of all our parents- his siblings, our grandparents, the army of old uncles and aunts, and all the secrets, and jokes, and joys, and sorrows that made up our history and filled in our memories of our large and wonderful family, That night we kept Uncle Howie up until all hours with our questions until, as was usual for Howie , he fell asleep on the sofa. It was a fantastic and fun night. One that I hold very dear in my heart. That night every one of our loved ones was alive and we all shared them because of Uncle Howie.
Memories are important. Sharing memories are import. They become the anchor that holds us steady and makes us feel safe and connected
With Uncle Howie gone we will now have to be the ones who tell the stories and keep the loving and warm memories alive for our children, and their children, and on and on. Rest in peace Uncle Howie and thank you. by @charles_fradin

Nothing lasts forever. No matter how hard we try to change that fact, no matter how hard we fight, or wish: or pray: or hold on , everything has its time. The more wonderful and beloved the harder it is to let go and to handle the loss. But there is also the truth that the more wonderful and beloved- the more precious and vivid the memories. And memories stay with us always. They are our constant companions, able to bring us to that special person: that special moment, that special love tc , and so ,in essence, our most wonderful and beloved can always be with us. Visit us in a way, and in a way last forever. This is a picture of my Dad, as a handsome young soldier in Korea. He died 14 years ago today. That smile that lit up a room and warmed everyone’s heart had never dimmed and was always bright. When I visit with dad he’s always smiling. He’s smiling at my boys, my siblings and their families, and he laughs at all the foibles and fantasies that are our life. Dad didn’t last forever and didn’t last long enough, not by a long shot, but he is here with me every day and I am proud and so happy to have him with me. My wonderful and beloved dad. I miss you and I am so glad you are with me. #dads #fathers #beloveddads #family #mourning by @charles_fradin

She had a smile that warmed anyone it touched and a twinkle in her eyes that told you there was magic in this women. The most positive hopeful person I have ever known who never once spoke a harsh word about anyone and believed that “can do” is the only way to get anything done. She was indeed magic and spent her life spreading her brand of optimism and “ looking on the bright side” to generations of her Kindergarten students. Many who, in later years, would stop her on the street to reintroduce themselves and tell her how wonderful she was and how they never forgot her. She is my mom. The Providence RI beauty who had more suitors in her youth than you could count, and told us of them all, but thankfully chose my dad. An artist, a first class pastry chef and cook, and an elegant entertainer who, like my dad, was the favorite parent of all our friends because she was interested in everyone and made you know it and made you feel wonderful for it. My cohort in crime - by the time I was twenty I had pushed her through every window of every abandoned or bordered up mansion in Newport Rhode Island. That optimism and enthusiasm, that ability to view the good and see the world in a positive light, created a world and a life for our family that enlightened and lighted our way, and made her a favorite of my boys and all her grandchildren. Mom was a woman who was truly happy with her life, and truly grateful for that life. So on this day that we lost my mom, six years ago, I am as always, sad, and I miss her terribly, but I am also truly happy and truly grateful for the life she gave me, and the lessons she taught me every day that I have been able to pass along to my family. Love you mom. We are still talking about you and missing you every day ❤️ #moms #family #lovingfamily #mothers #loss #familytime by @charles_fradin

Thanksgiving came and went so quickly, but not the joy and the gratitude that the holiday evokes. Surrounded by family and friends, both new and old, it was a loving reminder of what is important, what is necessary, and what is needed in our “oh too” challenging lives. The table was beautiful. The food delicious and plentiful, and the desserts … don’t get me started on the desserts, but most importantly the feeling, and the comfort, and the love we share around that table reminds us that every day is Thanksgiving. Sending good wishes and love for this holiday season and beyond. #thanksgiving #holidaytable #tabletop #thanksgivingdinner #holidaydecor #elegantdiningrooms #familyholiday #holidayseason #holidaycooking #thanksgivingfeast #tabletopdesign #familycelebrations #tablescapes #centerpieces #charlesfradinhome.#home #friendsandfamily #diningrooms #charlesfradin by @charles_fradin

Reposted from @chazmochezare “I am not a Khardashian kind of girl. I like to think of myself as more of a “Ginger-type” from “Gilligan’s Island.” Sexy, but a more subtle kitten. Who would have ever thought that a “Marilynesque” babe would be considered subtle.
All powdered and fresh, and frilly, and frothy, but vintage is in and I get to choose. My mom use to say; “You make your bed - you lay in it.” Well, I make my bed, I chose my bed. I chose my mattress. I chose my sheets, and I get to choose who I see in the mirror every day. How refreshing.”

A man whose smile warmed anyone who experienced it . Who made everyone happy by just walking into the room. A pied piper to any and all kids, and the favorite parent of all our friends. Smart as can be, tough, exacting , yet as compassionate, warm, and supportive as all get out. A true teacher, with a love of learning, a love of teaching , a love of stretching your mind and your horizons. He believed in rules, but knew when to break them as well. He was interesting, , but more importantly he was interested and gave everyone time and made you feel important because to him you were. He was fun and funny, creative , artistic, imaginative, and when the street lights came on at night in the neighborhood, his whistle, which could be heard for blocks, was the siren that called all the neighborhood kids home. He was my dad. Is my dad, and I miss him terribly every single day, but no more than on this day. My boys adored him, and the lessons he taught me, and the life that he gave me I have passed on to them. It has been a gift and a blessing that I cherish and on this Fathers Day as we remember and honor our dads I send him love and thanks for it all. I miss you dad #dads #fathersday #family #lovingfamily #fathers #familytime # by @charles_fradin

As I wake up to yet another birthday, another year, another number, I am actually happy that these numbers keep adding up. Never having been great at math, this is one equation that I am glad to keep solving. I am grateful for so much in my life - my friends, my family, my successes, and of course my failures, that with the help of my friends and family , we get through. It has been a life well lived and well loved Most of all I am grateful for these two guys- my boys who every day bring a smile to my face and fill my heart with such pride and so much joy. So on my birthday as these numbers, these years, keep adding up I say; let them come. Let the years pile up. I’ll take them all gladly to share with my boys. Happy birthday to me and thank you to everyone for all your birthday wishes #birthday #family #sons #familytime #familycelebration #agingbackwards #agingwell by @charles_fradin
