My print shop is open📜☕️
I created an immersive world to hold my photography, designed the custom front end myself, using tools like @figma and learned to apply @shopify as the back end that powers it. Real checkout, editioned and signed prints, all inside an experience I shaped from the ground up.

New Orleans and Chicago to start, with more cities coming.

I learned a lot building this, and I am grateful for the chance to keep growing with each project.

Shop the prints, link in bio.

Side note: I also got to play with @figma motion on the new logo in this video, which just dropped a couple days ago. Really fun to experiment with.

You don’t need more inventory. You need more clarity.

Every sign you put out is either guiding someone or confusing them.
Price menus. Drink menus. App infographics. Branding signs.
They all communicate before you ever speak.

Design is not decoration.
It’s direction.

Follow for more design insight as I build.
And if you need a sign done right, DM me.

Sometimes designs teach you their own limits. I built this drag-based style tile across FigmaMake, FigmaSites, and a few other tools, and while it worked beautifully on desktop, the background drag interaction just didn’t translate well to mobile scrolling. So I decided to pivot into a new design system instead. Excited to share the updated direction when my new site goes live on December 12th. I still loved this style tile and wanted to share it here. ✨ taken in Chicago, Illinois by @charlesa.xo

Creative direction and motion graphic work 🫧

Silk-soft ribbons of colour roll across the frame.

Lavender, peach, sea-glass blue. In their tide, a loop of rose-gold links relaxes, rearranges, and returns as a crystalline pendant worthy of @bvlgari vitrines. Each shot you see surfaced from @adobefirefly boards (beta), where the tool pinned every shimmer to the same airy fabric grain; @google Veo 3 then let the jewels drift and settle into motion, as naturally as light on water.

If seamless shape-shifting and high-craft visuals speak to your design eye, stay close.

Follow for more. 💫

Did a 24-hour Figma Make challenge and built a simple add + drop game 🎮✨

I learned how to prompt smarter, use scale + rotation, and let the tool surprise me. Can’t wait to build more!

Comment “Game” if you want the setup 👀

Hi, I’m Charlesa a UX/UI designer in Chicago. If I’m not prototyping in @figma , I’m outside pretending the wind is part of my brand aesthetic. 🌞

Follow me for design inspo, messy middle moments, and some very aesthetic garden breaks.

Being a UX/UI Designer at 22
Navigating an ever-changing design world can feel overwhelming - it’s easy to doubt yourself, even when your skills are solid. With so many tools and frameworks to master, deciding where to focus is tough.

Here are five tips to help you thrive as a young designer:

- ✨ Study the “why” behind every design

Understanding the purpose and context of a design decision helps you make more intentional, user-centered choices - rather than just following trends.

- 🎨 Talk to other young designers

Find them in UX/UI Discord servers (e.g., Designer Hangout), Slack communities, or local meetups. Connecting builds your network and sparks fresh ideas.

- 🔗 Follow and connect with designers you admire on LinkedIn

Curating your feed with industry leaders and role models keeps you inspired, motivated, and informed about emerging best practices.

- 📖 Dedicate at least one hour a day to design theory (e.g., Config Videos)

Regularly revisiting foundational concepts sharpens your critical thinking and prevents you from relying solely on tools or shortcuts.

- 🧠 Test your UX/UI/business vocabulary every morning with ChatGPT

Building a strong command of common terminology not only boosts your confidence, but also streamlines communication with teammates and stakeholders.

✨ Enjoyed these tips? Share this #reels with a fellow designer and follow for more insights on leveling up your UX/UI journey!#chicagoinfluencer #shotoniphone #figma #uxuidesigner #productdesigner taken in Chicago, Illinois by @charlesa.xo
