On an adventure or expedition, it is important to have a sense of direction. It also helps to have a swagger stick to point in said direction... . . . . . #societyofexplorersandadventurers #adventurersclub #grasslands #savanna #adventure #outdoors #wilderness #safari #vintage #vintagemenswear #sambrownebelt #swaggerstick #travel #field #expedition by @charlesthatcheradv
Words of wisdom... Throwback to an excerpt of the Second Edition of the #UntoldAdventuresOfTraderBrandon. Expeditions can be quite exciting with the right team. Everyone brings different expertise to the table. Sometimes it is nice to just sit a while and enjoy conversation over drinks. A cozy bourbon or whiskey concoction is usually my go-to for such a subtle social evening. #vintagemenswear #vintage #vintagefashion #bourbon #lounge by @charlesthatcheradv
Presenting the Thatcher Archives- a Society of Explorers and Adventurers-affiliated resource dedicated to a selection of S.E.A. Member memorabilia, as well as minor pieces from various expeditions, events, establishments, and other related artwork, in order to continue to share tales of adventure through preservation and passing them down through history itself. The various pins, badges, graphic designs, and other works that I have publicly released for sale and distribution in the past were sourced from this very archive, either directly or in replica form, to celebrate and share the spirit of adventure. (Check the stamp on the back of your pins!) Speaking of spirits- It is this branding that the future Thatcher Barware line will branch from! Sharing or enjoying stories is arguably enjoyed even more over nice, refreshing beverages, and we would be honored to provide designs from the archives to facilitate exactly that! This original logo graphic, including the lettering, was done personally by hand from scratch, using various historical pieces at my disposal as reference, designed intentionally without artificially generated assistance. Background and texture were sourced from @centurylibrary with an additional texture provided by my friend, @skipper_hoss. Guidance for the Latin motto across the base banner was kindly provided by a well-studied AdventureLander by the name of Ranger Jay. The beautiful ancient Khmer temples and shrines deep in the jungles of Cambodia have always been a place of calm and serene admiration for me, no matter the state they may be in. From fully intact, to ruins reclaimed by overgrowth, they are anthropologically enlightening, archeologically fascinating, architectually appealing, all while remaining refreshing places of meditation... Unless, of course, there is a rather territorial Indochinese tiger who calls it home... in which case, it may be wiser to admire from afar. #junglecruise #societyofexplorersandadventurers #adventurersclub #adventureland #adventure by @charlesthatcheradv
With the dastardly Colonel Wayne P. McSwagger around, rest is hard to come by. I am just grateful that he is sporting when confronted, at the very least... With the sheer amount and magnitude of powerful and mystical stolen relics he has had to relinquish, there is not much that could surprise me to find out that he has somehow managed to pillage. As smug as he may be, we always end up successfully besting him in his challenges of wit! 🎬 Col. The natural beauty of the Bahamian islands is always breathtaking. The palms and tall grass rustling in the seabreeze, wonderful creatures scurrying through their secluded tropical ecosystems, and towering porous cliffs imbed with shells... Not to mention centuries-worth of secrets potentially hidden within the sand and carved into stone... #bahamas #lookoutcay #islands #tropical #adventure by @charlesthatcheradv
Many ancient cultures have depictions of beings that are meant to be the embodiment or controller of the sun. One such diety is the Maya's K'inich Ahau. He is believed to be the embodiment of the Sun, symolizing light, warmth, life, and growth as he controls the sun's movement across the sky. In fact, the glyph depicting him is also used for day, Sun, and time! The above field sketch is from one of several Yucatan expeditions, specifically one in which we found a long-buried Maya temple dedicated to the aforememtioned Sun God. The structure had been somewhat unearthed by recent seismic activity. Unsurprisingly, the timing of the seemingly isolated quake's rumblings were a result of some meddling by Colonel McSwagger elsewhere that may or may not have upset the temple's central deity... The disruption of soil partially unveiled a large stone depiction of K'inich Ahau with most of his indentifying T-shaped incisor intact. This prompted further excavation of the site to learn more about this forgotten ancient architectural masterpiece. #societyofexplorersandadventurers #tropicalamericas #maya #ancientruins #fieldsketch by @charlesthatcheradv
What is your favorite island that you have had the opportunity to visit? If you have not visited one, what island do you want to visit most? . . . . #travel #islands #adventure #tropical #nature by @charlesthatcheradv
Having the lovely Lucille Everneth on this expedition was more refreshing than the tropical breeze itself. In fact, she was the one that made the arrangements with Capt. Mary Oceaneer for our seaward transportation this time around. We three sat for delightful conversation both before and after the expedition over some of Lucille's brilliant blends of tea. . . . 🎬: @lucille.everneth.adv . . . . #societyofexplorersandadventurers #lookoutcay #adventurer #travel #vintagefashion by @charlesthatcheradv
