excited to share this collection of old tunes of mine i unearthed from the early 2000s.

Back then raves in Detroit had more or less died out for a few years (for me at least) despite DEMF happening— but back in Ann Arbor there was a great scene brewing of all kinds of music, from noise, electro-acoustic experiments, jazz, folk, hiphop and most importantly the blip blops + grooves coming from the eclectic @ghostly fam, all of whom were definitely a big influence.

I wasn’t quite sure what, or how, to make what I wanted (seemingly everything all at once) but i did it anyway (with the help of lots of people) like @josefdeas plenty of @__shigeto drum samples, and i was obsessed with two things apparently: sampling my friends voices and an unhealthy amount of bit-reduction effects. I really wanted to bring a loose, live, feel to the electronic sounds I got from detroit and abroad, combining arpeggiated synths with any instrument i could get my hands on. if you’re a REAL OG you’ll know some of these songs from when I used to go by Satchel, but they never got a proper release. Enjoy:)

The cover photo is my sibling @j_a_minus they spent a lot of time on that phone 😸 and i figured it was fitting to use because of how many voicemails i sampled:) ♥️
