GEELONG 70.3 2nd AG 12th OA What a day! Unreal conditions, unreal course and despite everything not going exactly to plan couldn’t be happier with the result! To think 5 months ago I had a worse position in my AG then I did Overall Amateur today seriously excites me for the future and confirms that the hard work being done behind the scenes is working! More on the race in the breakdown coming soon but for now enjoy the stunning scenery and my pain faces! If any brands want to support me please reach out!!! An unreal weekend training with the lads in Bright before the final two weeks until Melbourne 70.3. All signs point that I’m in unreal swim & bike fitness, will just be a question of where the run is at. Super keen to race! by @charliemcswain

4:05:27 for 13th AO and 8th AG. A 6 minute PB over the distance. I think I got too used to everything going near perfect in training and racing and it became my expectation. Having been only back in the sport for a short period I forgot how challenging it can be navigate the million issues that come with triathlon. I feel this race proved to myself that I can still perform when a lot of things don’t go my way both in the prep and execution on race day. In that sense I am proud. However I’d be lying if I said I’m happy with my place in the age group. At the end of the day it’s all racing and times don’t really matter. Was bested by too many lads on Sunday who I’m both inspired by but also determined to put the head down and do the work they clearly have been doing. Excited to crack into a new training block before Melbourne 70.3, my main goal race of the back end of the year. A massive shout out to @amacx_au who have supported me in this prep, it’s unreal to never have to worry about fuelling during training because of how easy the turbo drink mix and gels are to get down. Mooloolaba you’ll certainly see me again. Shoutout @kainzacher for the vids x by @charliemcswain
Race week is upon us. The lead up has been anything but perfect but I’m still that keen to give it a red hot crack. It’s been 6 months since my last race so hopefully with the help of a few purchases and the race gods on my side should be enough for a PB over the distance. Keen for a change of scenery too, I’m sick of the Melbourne cold. Craving some Qld sun. @amacx_au ———————————————————— #sunnycoast703 #ironman by @charliemcswain
