🍂 My happy place. Where I go every Friday morning, and a few other times during the week whenever I can find the time.

I’m really soaking up the cosy autumn atmosphere and the beautiful surroundings. Now that I’ve completed a few ceramic pieces, I’m beginning to understand the whole process, from start to finish, and just how long it actually takes to make a pot! 🍂

So I’ve discovered you learn a lot from things not working out in ceramics. Let’s just say I’m learning lots 😜

However, when something finally works out, you really feel a sense of achievement — and that deserves to be celebrated. 🤍

I really enjoyed this short course with Nanna Heydorn at the old bakers in Strands. She really helped me a to understand what it is I’m trying to achieve and also learning that sometimes it’s good to make mistakes, so we can see what happens and learn from them. 😊

Lesson 3: Had such good fun today on the wheel for the first time. Centering is tricky! Also my mug survived its first firing! Yey 😬 #keramic #ceramics #pottery #friland #learningforlife taken in Friland by @charlottethun

So, my mug survived drying! 🙌
Today I sanded it a little and then tried applying slip. My slip was too thick, so my mug is looking very rustic 😜 Then I had a go at the sgraffito technique.
Let’s just say… there’s room for improvement!

Now my mug is ready for its first firing — bisque firing. 🔥

So much to learn, but I think I’m going to love this.
