Been a while since I did an open mic. Thanks to @rapseminar_rob for being a great host and for the shout out. Saw some great performances by @lyricalsamurai and @david.thom.773. Shout out to @deadwallreveries for the awesome sound and music and @elpasobwoms @rosewood_bar for being awesome. Loved being on stage again. Even though I just did a couple of songs, it was great getting back to my roots. I’ll be putting the whole video on my @charly_rrokk page. 9/24/26. I did an easy hike at @keystoneheritagepark during a rainy week. I love this place because it is an archeological site. The ecology here is supposed to replicate what El Paso was like biologically before the Spanish discovered it. It also has the oldest ancient village remnants in the U.S. of archaic indigenous peoples that is about 4500 years old. It’s a nice walking hike. Just bring your boots because it does get muddy in the wetlands. If you are into bird watching there are places you can post up to see mallards, storks, ibis, and other wildlife as well. It’s been a long day, a long week, a long year. We celebrated my good friend Ernesto’s bday with abuelos today. But, we also participated in a beautiful tradition. Temazcal. I offered prayers on the heat of volcanic rock, I prayed for loved ones and asked for blessings on them, I let go of what doesn’t serve me, I asked for healing for me and those who need it in this world. I humbled myself before God and asked wholeheartedly. We all did. I’m blessed I was invited to be part of this tradition and for making new brothers in the process. Thanks to Margarito for running it. It was tough but we did it. Aho by @charlyr0ck

First Fall Hike 9/23/26 Resler Canyon. Just by myself enjoying the desert rain in the arroyo. The desert comes to life against a backdrop of purple, gray, and blue. Life regains vibrancy and respite from the heat even if just for a moment. Be present in the beautiful moments. This house holds a significant place in my heart. It was a part of my life that I will learn from, love, and never forget. If you know me. You know why. This house represented hope, love, and dreams coming true. This house protected us, sheltered us, gave us rest, and became a home to us. I am grateful to God for allowing us to live there and to Carolina for sharing this space with me. As with everything, All things must pass. But I would be remiss if I didn’t show my appreciation for that moment in my life, for all the good, the bad, and the memories. It’s important to be real about our past and not lie to ourselves.
