⏱️ We wanted more family time together…

More shared experiences. More memories with our son while he was little.

So we rented out our home, stepped away from our corporate careers, and spent 14 months traveling to 22+ countries as a family.

It wasn’t always easy, and we know this path isn’t for everyone. But it reminded us that life doesn’t have to follow one set timeline.

You don’t have to quit your job or travel the world to chart your own course. Start by asking yourself what you want MORE of.

At @chartsacourse, we’re collecting the memories we’ll tell stories about when we’re 85 and wrinkled. 🤍

The places we’ve seen, the things we’ve experienced, and the little moments we never want to forget.

Because one day, these ordinary days will be the good old days.

✨ Don’t wait for someday to start charting your own course.

🙃✈️Things nobody tells you about traveling with little kids…

The playground becomes the main attraction. Snacks become a travel essential. And your carefully planned itinerary? More of a suggestion.

But somewhere between the meltdowns and unexpected moments, you realize these are the adventures you’ll remember most.

Traveling with kids isn’t always picture-perfect, but it’s worth it. ❤️

What’s the most unexpected thing your kids have loved on a trip? 👇

And no, we didn’t have every detail figured out before we left.

We only planned the first 3 months, had an idea of the places we wanted to visit, and booked a month-long stay for our first destination.

We also committed to carry-on only for the entire journey.

Here’s what we’d tell a family dreaming of a big adventure:

✈️ Start with the trip you want to take.

💰 Work out a realistic budget.

🏡 Think through your responsibilities back home.

🧳 Pack for what you need, not every possible scenario.

🌎 Plan enough to feel prepared, but leave room for flexibility.

You don’t need to quit your job or travel for 14 months to chart your own course 🗺️ Start with the trip that makes sense for your family.

We didn’t wait for the perfect plan. We took the first step and figured out the rest along the way.

⤵️ Travel reminds you how big the world is, how much there is to learn, and how many ways there are to live.

We left our 9–5s to spend 14 months exploring the world as a family, and we’d do it all over again.

You don’t have to quit your job or travel for a year. Just stop waiting for the “perfect time” to start making memories.

💕You’ll never get this version of your child back…

You can make more money.
You can find another job.
You can work more later.

But you can’t buy back the years when your kids were little.

That’s one of the biggest lessons behind why we chose to chart our own course.

Because time with them isn’t something we can 🛟save for later.

Follow @chartsacourse for family travel + inspiration to make the most of the time you have.

You don’t have to spend more to travel ✈️ more…

Here are 5 things we do to keep travel costs down:

1️⃣ Travel credit card— earn points/miles on everyday spending and put them toward future trips.

2️⃣ Mix restaurants + groceries— enjoy local meals while saving on breakfast, snacks, and some lunches.

3️⃣ Choose free activities— playgrounds, beaches, parks, markets, and exploring a new city can be just as memorable.

4️⃣ Pack carry-on only— skip checked-bag fees and make getting around easier.

5️⃣ Use public transportation— trains, buses, and walking can save a lot compared to taxis and rideshares.

You don’t have to spend more to travel more. 🌎
