🤼 WHAT WE PLAY FOR • SWITZERLAND🇨🇭

🎥 Longer form video of this experience coming soon!

I’m exploring the idea of making this a much more official series - where I can better show the special experiences I have with the people and places. These have been deeply rich and meaningful experiences for me so I’d love any thoughts or feedback on the best way to share them 🙏

HUGE thank you to the young star @paxtonbograss and Schwingklub Interlaken for the support!

Where should I go next??

Even though it’s probably the funnest sport to fail at, Fierljeppen was hard. Like everyone, I hate being bad at something, but I’ve also learned there is power in “failure therapy”. Paradoxically, failing at these new sports is building confidence - it’s about not fearing failure, but embracing it, and seeing where that takes you.

This journey to connect with the people and places around the world through sport has already been very rewarding and meaningful and I’m excited about what’s to come!

HUGE thank you to @fierljeppen.ijlst and the amazing people I met there, I hope to be back. Keep your eye out for the young phenom @michiel.zijlstra and this is my official push to MAKE THIS AN OLYMPIC SPORT! There’s nothing like it.

not a medical expert - just a former athlete with significant back injury history and an ongoing journey figuring out how to manage it.

activating the core, glutes, and often smaller support muscles that often shut down or need building is a game changer.

Been thinking about this one a lot lately.

As grim as it may sound, one day, I will die - we all will. Which is a thought that naturally invokes fear and heaviness, but I’ve also found it to be liberating.

Why would we give weight to fears, failures, inhibitions, insecurities, or others expectations of how we’re “supposed to live” when one day, it will just, end? It doesn’t add up.

So let go a little. Be the truest version of yourself. Remember that others opinions and expectations are as fleeting and meaningless as the 10 seconds they last. We have one shot at this life thing, then it’s over and life goes on - so live it your way.

To contradict myself only a little, I do believe in God and life after all of this. I believe in being and doing good, having principles, helping others, and becoming the best possible version of ourselves. But not because other humans think we should while we’re here. But because it leads to the deepest, fullest life one can live. So whether there is life after all of this or not, the idea is the same: this life will end - live accordingly.

When I first read Meditations by Marcus Aurelius I remember being a bit stumped and even annoyed by how much he emphasized death. I wanted the profound, mind altering, philosophical stuff. But as I’ve lived and reflected, amid both the mundane and existential, I’ve found power in this concept.

The quote in the video is a rough translation of Memento Mori, a latin phrase used often in stoicism which basically means “remember that you must die”. It’s also reflected in Marcus Aurelius writings, as well as others. by @chase_hansen22

Loved this moment.

It was simple but meaningful. Moments like this bring an energy into my soul which feels palpable even now.

This was high in the Swiss alps washing off the sawdust after competing in my first ever Schwingen festival. The local boys were tough opponents and the language barrier didn’t allow us to talk much. But they reminded me of the relationships I have with my brothers and old teammates - which are very meaningful to me. by @chase_hansen22

🎓 Masters from Oxford ✅

It was a year that felt like a lifetime and a final week full of last times and first times. Fortunately, it was just a chapter in a book which is already getting pretty full. The rest is still.. unwritten?
