130th🦄🌸

S/o @filippo.ardesi.7 God bless this man.

S/0 to bib 906. Pumped you ran a PR bro. He said I looked like a fast runner. I said he was a fast runner. I needed that man.

S/0 to bib 1560. We somewhat.. Led the amateur race for a while. Toed the starting line side by side. And ran together at various times throughout. Aura was insane I need a training partner like you dude.

S/o to New Moon Villa in Chinatown. Salt and pepper calamari at 1am. First meal since finishing. Amazing

S/0 to Tufts. I’ve been to 7 since January for this. They’re the best.

S/o to @tracksmithrunning for the racers. Fast. Needs more cushioning for a marathon.

Still in my racing kit over 2 days after finishing. Boston was 100% worth it. Might move here.🦄 taken in Chinatown by @chasebulten

Aramco Houston Half: 1:07:03

Leaned into the pain and used it as fuel! Found comfort in discomfort. (1min 45s PR)

Probably could have benefited from a more controlled start. Knew I was in deep water at mile 7. But once you’re in deep waters there is no turning back.. Only forward! It was truly a battle with my mind to keep moving forward

Going all in on chasing the Olympic Trial standard of 2:16 by the 2028 trials deadline. Let’s get to work. 🪵 🪓 & 🪣 💧

IMT Marathon 4th OA 2:26:41
Puked and rallied to hard earned top 5 finish. Continued to press forward after all my race goals were out of reach. Those are always the hardest races to finish.

Even after my 8th one, marathons never seem to get easier😅 I guess that’s why they are so addicting to me. Test my limits and see what I can endure. Wouldn’t be fun to me if it were easy! Had a few races that went very well this fall so am not discouraged. Excited for the next one☝️lots of areas to improve on.🙌 Big goals for this spring and a plan to improve on those areas!

Also want to give a massive shoutout to my amazing family brought the energy to keep me moving forward! In the end that was what mattered most to me. by @chasebulten

PSA: DARE TO DREAM! And make those dreams as big as you want🙌 NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO TELL YOU OTHERWISE. If you want it go for it. Even if there’s 1-2% chance. GO FOR IT.

Figured I would need to run at least 68 on Akron’s respectfully challenging course to be ready for the effort I plan to give at IMT. I’m ready! 3 more weeks!
2 races back to back weekends.

@medcenterhealth Bowling Green 10k 1st Overall 🥇
@akronmarathon Half 3rd Overall 🥉. sandwiched between 5 miles WU and 6 CD~24 miles total

2 weeks of big stimulus’s at the tailend of 100-110 mile weeks of consistent training. 🧱
Now it’s time to absorb the work before heading back home (Iowa) to give it a run. I’m coming with everything I got🏃‍♂️ taken in Akron, Ohio by @chasebulten

First meet in the books. Both teams didn’t run their full squad. Offered great opportunity for many returners to fill new roles within the team. Majority of the freshmen were able to experience their first collegiate race. Proud of this team🔥

Parkersburg News and Sentinel half marathon last weekend, was able to grab 2nd place OA in some brutal conditions. Races like this is what makes you stronger!! Back to work, 9 weeks until the goal race in DSM IMT marathon!! Pumped to be back in Iowa!

This weeks training included:
-6x2k threshold work on Tuesday.
-6x30s hills on Thursday.
-8x1k alternating threshold and aerobic power zones with 4x30s strides after on Friday.
-Sunday will be a long run of 22 miles of easy to moderate running.
-Weekly mileage will be at just over 100 with remaining work at an easy effort. Taking easy running seriously means more recovery, stronger aerobic base, increased density of capillaries, improved metabolic fuel source efficiency, and the ability to handle more volume of the fun stuff. This is the largest part of the week for a reason! taken in Parkersburg, West Virginia by @chasebulten

The 129th Boston Marathon! 🦄 🔵🟡
Incredible energy from start to finish. Just under 30,000 runners and thousands of spectators lining the whole course.

Two of my goals was to have fun and enjoy the experience, and both exceeded my expectation!

On top of doing this for the love and enjoyment, I also try to strive for objective goals in all my races. For Boston, I set a few:

My “A” goal was 2:25 or faster (5:32 per mile average). My “B” goal was to hold on for at least 2:27. (5:36 ave). I was hoping to crack as far into the top 100 as possible.

The race

5k- 17:05 (5:30 ave)- Dang I already need to pee bad😬

10k- (5:28 ave)- A little ahead of pace but it feels much easier than anticipated. Don’t go any faster.✊

Half (1:11:45, 5:28 ave)- Just hold steady and be patient.⏳

30k (1:41:44, 5:27 ave)- Im usually hurting by now but today I’m not. I’ve been passing people the whole race. Now I’m thinking 2:23. Just keep steady and bring it home.😤

35k- Everything is mostly downhill left. Already conquered heart break hill and am feeling strong but hurting noticeably. I still think “A” goal is in the bag.🫡

40k- Only 2 miles to go, but now I am completely depleted. Pure survival mode. Put on the tourniquet and pray that I can make it to the finish line under my “B” goal. Can’t loose it right at the end. Getting passed a lot now🫠

Last mile to 26.3- (Finish- 2:26:47 5:34 ave)- The longest mile of my life. I was counting down the seconds waiting for it to end. Fighting every inch of the way. Checking my watch knowing it’s going to be close, but I’m not even certain I can make it to the finish line at all. Finally, it’s in sight and gives me the energy I need to fight for “B” goal by only 13s. A hard earned B goal and PR that I can take pride in.

2:26:47 for 132nd.

After spending a while in the med tent I was able to meet up with the Campbellsville squad. I was stoked to hear that everyone had an amazing day! Huge PRs by @bppierce16 @joeyhartlage and @samuelbennett7707 rolled an impressive Boston Marathon while in the middle of his senior track season. Still looking to train through and finish out an already incredible year full of PRs on the track 💪 taken in Boston, Massachusetts by @chasebulten
