POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Honored to be named to the @golfdigest best teachers in every state list. Thank you to @matthewrudy and staff for putting this list together and my colleagues who voted for me.

Special thanks to @soerenbcol3 and @kickingbirdgolf71 for the opportunity to come back home to Oklahoma and for providing some of the best teaching and practice facilities in the country. What you guys have built here is second to none and I’m thankful for the opportunity to represent KickingBird Golf and the City of Edmond. We’re just getting started!

Congrats to my good friend and one of the best instructors in the biz, @ejpfistergolf for being number 1 in Oklahoma. Well deserved sir and thanks for all the help and guidance along the way!

I want to thank the many people that have helped shape who I am as an instructor. You guys have either helped my own game, helped my students, or helped me grow into a better instructor. @scottcowxcertified, @axisgolfacademy, @montescheinblum, @dancarraher, @mikeadamsgolf, @eatischler, @willpaulsell, @halsuttongolf, @joshnahmgolf, @john.dunigan, @robhoulding.golf and last but not least my good friend and podcast host Dr. Raymond Prior.

And finally to all my students. I’ve learned more from you guys than I have from anyone or anything else. Thank you for trusting in me and giving me a chance to help you with your games. taken in KickingBird Golf by @chasecoopergolf

Confidence is great. Until it’s gone.

What happens when your swing feels terrible? When you miss a few putts? When nothing is going your way?

Can you still find a way to compete?

Too many golfers rely on confidence instead of developing the skills to perform without it.

Resiliency. Adjustability. Freedom.

The goal isn’t to feel confident.

It’s to stop needing confidence to play great golf. taken in KickingBird Golf by @chasecoopergolf

Here’s a simple way to look at impact.
Your hips and upper body don’t have to move the same amount.
How those two pieces line up can tell you a lot about what’s happening through the strike.
Something worth checking next time you film your swing. taken in KickingBird Golf by @chasecoopergolf

Where the club is at P5 gives you a pretty good clue about the shot shape it tends to favor.
More left of center tends to favor a draw.
More right of center tends to favor a fade.
Not a rule.
A tendency.
Look at the pattern. Then look at the ball flight.
They usually tell a pretty similar story.

You want to break 80. But are you putting in the work of someone who breaks 80?

There’s nothing wrong with playing golf to enjoy it, but frustration often comes from the gap between what we expect from our game and what we actually do to improve it.

Either raise your commitment or adjust your expectations. Both might help you enjoy the game a little more. by @chasecoopergolf

Here’s a simple checkpoint for the backswing.
Look at the space between the knees.
Too much.
Not enough.
Or somewhere in the middle.
You don’t need to overthink it.
Just know what your pattern looks like. taken in KickingBird Golf by @chasecoopergolf

Here’s a simple cue that I’ve been using for a long time.

Get your shoulder off your chin in transition. This helps sync up the arms and the pivot and keeps the arms from getting stuck behind the pivot. taken in KickingBird Golf by @chasecoopergolf

Being uncomfortable doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. Raymond shares a simple lesson from the high dive: instead of asking how do I feel? ask what do I want to do?
Nerves and discomfort can come along for the ride.
You don’t have to feel comfortable to move forward.

When your junior golfer is 25, would you rather they were the #1 player in the country and you have no relationship with them…

or they were an OK player and you have a great relationship?

Obviously, we all want both.

But here’s another question worth asking:

Whose dream are you chasing?

Is this what they want?

Or have their tournaments, rankings and results slowly become something you need?

It’s easy to live vicariously through your kids without realizing you’re doing it.

We want them to chase big goals. Work hard. Compete. Fail. Learn. Become great.

But somewhere along the way, it can become really easy to care so much about who they’re becoming as an athlete that we forget who we are to them as a parent.

Your job isn’t to make every failure hurt more.

Sometimes your job is to be the person they can fail in front of and know nothing between you changed.

Let them have their dream.

You get to be their parent.

There will always be another tournament.

There won’t always be another ride home. taken in KickingBird Golf by @chasecoopergolf

Your neck can tell you a lot about how your body is moving.
If everything starts bunching up through impact, you’re usually running out of room.
Give the neck some space.
Let the chest keep moving.
Let the arms work through.
Less bunching.
More room to swing. taken in KickingBird Golf by @chasecoopergolf

Better golf psychology isn’t about being endlessly positive. It’s learning to manage your attention, accept discomfort, move on from the past, and stop letting every shot define you.

These aren’t just skills for shooting lower scores.

They’re skills for enjoying the game more, too.
