The Grand Canyon is timelessness etched in stone. Millions of years of drama and scars are carved across her face. Most recently, the Dragon Bravo Fire swept through 150,000 acres, erasing forests, consuming dozens of structures, and likely this fallen pinion pine. Now, with the blaze roughly 60% contained, the long process of renewal begins. Resilience lives here. It’s written in stone, sky, and quiet endurance.

It’s tough to call White Pocket a wilderness experience these days. On this trip there was a full wedding shoot complete with wardrobe changes and an acoustic guitar, along with a group using radios to communicate with each other from 100 yds away. But there is undeniable magic in the way these rocks catch the last bit of twilight after everyone else has gone back to camp. taken in Arizona, USA by @chaseslight

Excited to begin another extended road trip through Arizona, Utah, and Nevada over the next few weeks. I’ve sat and waited on many rocky outcrops. Most have been made of sandstone and slick rock, some made of granite, and a few covered in moss and sea spray. This is my favorite. I came here a total of six times in two weeks. Three sunrises and three sunsets. Each morning I watched orcas and dolphins play, sea life fly, and even a pair of black bears come by to scavenge the tide pools. I’ve sat on this image for a couple years because I was never happy with the edit, and could never settle on exactly which frames to include in the pano. But also to hoard it in some type of way, not wanting to go through the finality of sharing it. It’s a strange notion, but perhaps one that some can relate to.

This was one of my favorite spots to stroll on Vancouver Island, and I still have a few more images from this area coming up. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until I got home that I decided I kinda liked this shot. In the field I was focused on another area, and only made one attempt at the four shot pano before moving on. In hindsight, I wish I would’ve taken a little more care framing up the kelp beds to anchor throngs a bit better.
