Meet our writer and cast member playing Danny @mickydavid91 🔥

Chasing Adonis is Micky’s debut short film which is partly inspired by his own experiences. With a society bombarded with images of the ideal male body and an increasing pressure on men to obtain muscular physiques he is determined to shed light on a relatively unspoken topic.

Micky’s most recent role was playing Richard Cooper in feature film Battle Over Britain by Tin Hat Productions due for release later in 2023.

Meet our fantastic director @mrtomgordon !

Tom is an actor and award winning filmmaker from London who trained at LAMDA before co-founding Good Shout. Their short film The Listener was Bafta long listed.

He recently produced his first feature The Sun Also Rises (Move Mountains Production), and works extensively as a Producer, 1st AD and Script Developer. He is very excited to be directing Chasing Adonis, and honoured to be part of the creative team.

Tom spent the first few years of his life on a boat, which explains everything.

We’re very excited to have Tom on board 🤩

🏋️‍♂️ BULKING UP 🏋️‍♂️

There is an increasing pressure on men to obtain muscular physiques.

Cultural and media influences often create unrealistic models of bodily perfection which are presented as both attainable and necessary.

Everyday life is bombarded with images of the ‘ideal body’- from fitness magazines, fragrance & clothing adverts, TV & film to social media. It’s everywhere.

‘As far back as I can remember I always wanted a muscular physique and I never knew why.’

Fitness is integral part of mental health, but when ambition crosses over to obsession the consequences can be dangerous.

How muscle dysmorphia is different from healthy bodybuilding or fitness:

* An inaccurate perception of ones own body image.
* Self-esteem is almost entirely rested on muscle build, while other factors (intelligence, sense of humor, relationships etc) are discounted.
* Fitness regime interferes with job, school, and relationships rather than being integrated in one’s life.
* Use of dangerous substances, such as anabolic steroids, that are clearly contradictory for a healthy lifestyle

One in four of us experience a mental health condition.

The pandemic has only worsened mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression & body dysmorphia.

Now more than ever we need to talk about mental health.
