It’s amazing how, if you live long enough, you can experience full-circle moments in life. Last night I attended the 68th Annual Golden Trumpet Awards, which celebrate the BEST, Brightest, and Most Innovative in public relations and storytelling.

Many people don't know that before my “Chat Daddy” fame, I also worked in public relations and marketing for various products, events, and people. I was one of the few young Black men in the field. At one point, I worked for one of the country's biggest advertising agencies, Hal Riney and Partners. I will never forget this experience because of the many lessons I learned and still use today.

It was wonderful to be in a room full of people who understand the importance of telling others' stories with professionalism, integrity, and passion.

I want to give a special shout-out to Michelle Flowers Welch, founder of Flowers Communications Group. Michelle and I were acquaintances before and during the early days of building her multi-million-dollar business, and I've watched her rise to fame as a pioneering entrepreneur, award-winning public relations executive, and influential leader in multicultural communications.

Congratulations to all the winners! It was also so good to see so many of my favorite PR people from all walks of life. 👍🏾🙌🏾💪🏽🥳🎉🏅🥂❤️📻📺📰🌟 by @chatdaddy1

Congratulations to Micah Materre, Emmy Award-winning journalist and longtime WGN-TV anchor, on receiving the Media Impact Award, and to Michelle Flowers Welch, a pioneering entrepreneur, award-winning public relations executive, and influential leader in multicultural communications. Michelle founded Flowers Communications Group and received the Presidential Legacy Award. Congratulations to both ladies on your EPIC accomplishment, a milestone. 👍🏾💪🏽🙌🏾🥂🥳🎉❤️ taken in Hyatt Regency Crystal Ballroom by @chatdaddy1

Just a friendly reminder to check in on your strong, socially outward friends too. Just because they are showing up, happy, flossing, and shining doesn't mean they aren't hurting, too. -Chat 🙏🏾 by @chatdaddy1
